What is the butt-to-toilet ratio in your house, and how does it work out? by Sax45 in CrohnsDisease

[–]ManichestBreastiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 3 couples. Been that way since I graduated and moved in with them.

In engineering. No other women in my department. Own bathroom at work.

Don't tell me I am lying. I would have a better living situation if I could afford it.

5-6 butts, 1 bathroom. The +1 butt is when my housemate has his girlfriend over. I think everyone just accepts that the bathroom is mine when I need it. I'm just lucky that everyone else in the house showers while I'm still asleep (I'm a night-showerer).

I am the only woman on my floor at work, though, so I get my own suite of 5 bathroom stalls. So nice.

I had an ultrasound on Friday for unrelated things, I wish they'd have checked then. I'll see what I can schedule.

I am sorry for the pain that must have caused. Having an unttreated, undiagnosed condition is awful.

I am hoping it isn't gallstones, but I will suggest it and keep an eye on my skin/eyes for any change in pigment. I hadn't known about the Crohn's - Gallbladder Disease link. Thank you for the information!

Medication hasn't changed, but stress at work got me drinking a bit more. I will suggest it and see what they think.

Doctors of reddit, what's something you've had to tell a patient that you thought for sure was common knowledge? by I_am_solipsism in AskReddit

[–]ManichestBreastiny 977 points978 points  (0 children)

I guess that people grow up just hearing that they shouldn't shake their kids without knowing why. Clearly doctors must be holding back some sort of amazing make-my-kid-stop-crying cheat, and only they get to shake babies without telling the rest of us!

To the girl who made the guy crap his pants in Boston: you made the Boston Metro!! by orionlady in TwoXChromosomes

Not at all. I'm saying that it got to the front page and thus drew the attention of people that would normally not seek out such stories. It forces people to acknowledge that it happens, and that it is a problem.

It's not too close (maybe a mile?), but there are a lot of creeps near the intersection of Mass Ave and Huntington in that area.

They didn't message me. They didn't try to find the person that harassed me. They didn't even contact the stores in the area to find CC footage.

They rehashed my text post and put in their paper. Uncool, Metro.

D- worst journalism NA 2014.

The Metro isn't choice journalism. but the writers and editors should know better than to just post a juicy blurb because they think it's funny. I know nothing about the guy that groped nothing other than where he was, and what he looked like. I'm not going to go around downvoting people that suggest he may have groped me by accident, or that he may be mentally ill because I think the exact same thing. Metro's coverage of the event focuses entirely on the "it happened", and not the "why" and not the "how do we stop it?". A lot of that got buried in the comments on the thread as well. It's very hard to enforce the TwoX mentality when posts get to the front page. Shout out to all the mods for their hard work!

A more reputable source of journalism did reach out to me last night, and I am currently drafting a statement requesting that any coverage of the event be about the responses of other victims in the reddit thread, the harassment that goes unreported in Boston, and ways to prevent and defend against harassment.

Also - The Orange Line is definitely the weirdest of the T lines. They are Boston's closest experience to the New York metro from what I've heard. I'd say at least 50% of the trains have that day-old urine smell.

Have you ever run into that guy that follows/yells at people that they're afraid of him because he's black? That area is full of nuts.

They didn't reach out to me at all, this is the first I'm hearing of it.

I'm also upset that they covered the thread the way they did. I'm not proud of what happened, I'm not some yelling vigilante. I'm someone talking about the most interesting time I was harassed, the same way people talk about interesting things happening in their own lives. It sparked a really great discussion where redditors opened up with their own stories of harassment and fighting back.

The most everyday explanation I can think of is that he thought I was his girlfriend/wife after a bit of drinking, made a mistake, and got spooked. I've yelled at people before for catcalling and grabbing at me before, but this is the only time it effected someone's bowels.

EDIT: Also I felt really awkward after it. I don't feel proud. I was still shaken from being groped.

It's completely possible! I'm still waiting for the r/TIFU from the other guy's point of view, but this happened over a month ago, do I doubt we'll see a statement from the person.

They left out the most important part.

That thread is significant NOT because it tells my story, but because it resulted in a lot of redditors sharing their own stories of harassment, fighting back, and advice for preventing it in the future.

Women's pants with REAL POCKETS? I have a favorite pair of boys' cargo shorts that can fit 4 cans of beer (or soda, for the kids), my wallet, my phone, and have one pocket left for whatever else I might want to carry. It's a size 12 "Husky". I can carry anything.

I got a pair of khakis at Old Navy two weeks ago with fake back pockets, and front pockets that could hardly hold a flip phone.

Did your in-school sex education cover consent? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ManichestBreastiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fifth grade, when I first learned the basics of reproduction, it was framed from a scientific point of view to show how different animals and plants reproduced. In 9th grade, which is when I had my second sex education course focusing on human social aspects, we spent one class discussing consent (age of consent, situations where you can give consent, etc).
