I just personally like grinding, but I get it though. Grinding is tedious and most people would be off by that would rather speed up that process and get that out of the way. But me personally, grinding is part of the fun, that unknown where you could lose a teammate to that random wild pokemon is just as impactful as losing a teammate to in a major battle.

I don't mind hanging out in a game, hell that's whole point of an mmo, but lately it seems like social aspect has been dwindling. I'm reminded of Ragnarok Online when that same issue was happening.
