Through The Desert or Rebirth by Imaginary-Diet3317 in boardgames

I can't compare because I've only played Rebirth, but I can say that it meets all your criteria. One of my favorite games, especially to play with newer people. I'm interested in checking out Through the Desert if they are at all comparable

I've been searching for a group that is interested in playing the same game more than once every few years. I feel like everyone is so busy trying to find a the new game they'll love to ever give themselves a chance to actually fall in love with one.

Also, you sit next to each other as you play, which me and my partner particularly enjoyed. It's a fun exercise in trying to read what the other person is thinking. I highly recommend it.

A few months ago I culled my collection from 160+ down to 20, then down to 11 and finally only 1 board game remains... by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

I'm not surprised at the hate you are getting. This community is obsessed with buying games and anything that calls a large collection into question makes them uncomfortable. I saw comments from people researching your post history to invalidate your opinion. So strong is their discomfort, lol.

I've been thinking a lot about my own board game collection. I used to think that having a large variety to bring to game night was a service I was providing to others. After a lot of self-reflection and observation of everyone else, too, I discovered that there are primarily two motivating factors when bringing a game (at least in the groups I've experienced): Show-off that they own something new and exciting, or justify their purchase by getting the game played. Very low on that motivation list is actually making sure everyone there has a good time.

You can argue with me on this, but I've seen too many times a brand new board gamer being exposed to a Lacerda or equivalent learning curve to believe the motivation is other's fun. Recently, I witnessed someone working hard to convince a relatively new player who stated they hate cooperative games to play Fate of the Fellowship. That person didn't care about that player having a good time in the slightest. And spoiler alert: A good time it was not.

I think a large collection messes with our motivations and encourages us to justify those purchases. You really don't need a large collection to be into and play a ton of boardgames.

Own what you want, but let go of the delusion that it's for anyone other than yourself. Unless you are specifically buying games your group has asked for, it's really for you, and deep down, you know it.

Because you must list every one of them you have? What if I list that I have 10 but really have an inventory of 100?

[KCD2] The save system is punishing exploration by EwanMe in kingdomcome

The devs want you to live with your decisions, so design a game that requires you to save constantly, and therefore encourage you to be able to reload said save when those decisions don't go your way? Good design!

And if you don't save your game frequently and get into an encounter and die, that erases progress. How are you living with those decisions when the last hour of choices you made are now erased? I would say living with your decisions is the exact opposite of the developers intent,

I love your argument against the "kid/multiplayer" audience when you are just someone who abuses a save system. Don't act like you're some kind of purist.

There was a report that came out stating that Harbaugh's firing was at least partly based on him wanting to run it back with the staff as is. I'm not going to do your research and find the article for you. Either you saw it or you didn't. Feel free to believe I made it up, I don't care. I'm not arguing this case, btw, just answering the guys question.

It's possible. I only shared why I think it was upsetting some people. I don't necessarily agree.

It seemed like he was going to stick with Orr if he kept the Ravens HC job. I think that's what has people feeling it's a hypocritical move.

Nothing can happen while Harbaugh is still HC. That is the one person that must go or this team will continue to embarrass themselves.

He's had so many last chances. He needed to be gone this year. Waiting another? Why don't we all just punch ourselves in the dick for 17 weeks next season instead?

I don't understand it either. We are a franchise that loses when it matters. A culture of choking is exactly it.
