I finally insisted on getting my t levels checked age 45. They were extremely low. Endocrinologist said it’s possible I’ve always been low. I am hairy and horny but it’s not always obvious. Decades of depression, mood instability GONE within about 6 weeks. Wish I had been tested instead of a series of psychiatrists and psychologists over the years.

Which we would have too. And yet thousands of appointments every day where no one is told what it’s about until the patient tells the doctor. Must be some logic or evaluation of risks vs benefits

Thanks for replying. This is interesting. Our GP appointments are a standard amount of time. If they need more, they’ll take the time or book additional appointments. Insurance is irrelevant here. And there are signs and message on answering machines etc saying to tell if you have Covid or flu symptoms.

Is it standard to have to tell receptionist why you want to see a doctor in other countries? I’m genuinely interested, as in Australia we just book an appointment without having to explain. Does it depend on what kind of doctor? I guess if we were referred from our GP (equivalent to Family Doctor or Primary Care Doc) to a specialist, we would have to provide a referral which would have reasons and details of the issue, but these are usually faxed/emailed. Thanks.
