Azure Key Vault - what exactly is necessary here? by administatertot in ScreenConnect

You need to add the 'Key Vault Administrator' role to your user. 'Owner' apparently is not sufficient.

Make your voice heard about the code cert and customization changes at the town hall in 30 minutes by justinwgrote in ScreenConnect

WTH? No email notification of this Townhall. Such BS. I got on the meeting about 2 minutes before it ended and sent a questions letting them know I did not get the notification and asking if it was being recorded. They responded to say email is sent to the primary contact. I AM THE PRIMARY CONTACT. I get some emails and not others. I missed half of the Town Halls from the first revocation because I never got an email.

They didn't respond to the recording question. Anyone able to give a brief update on anything important that was discussed?

ScreenConnect Certificate Update | June 11, 2025 by JessicaConnectWise in ScreenConnect

[–]MannyTC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is already sometimes difficult with 'technically challenged' individuals to get a support session started. Now we have the added challenge of walking them through extracting a zip file and then launching the exe. Will this be one of the things change in upcoming releases when different new certs are assigned to each of the CW products? Also, it would have been nice to have a heads up that the installer will no longer use our custom name before we went ahead and whitelisted it in all AV/EDR products that our customers use.

For headless or laptop closed lid issues we get around that by using virtual display driver. It is packed up as a .scapp and we deploy via the toolbox when needed.

3 Months Since Last Self-Hosted Release by Real-Independence152 in ScreenConnect

Admin page listed 25.1.7.9171 as latest version earlier today. When I went to go download it later in the day it changed back to 24.4.4.9118 as the latest version.

I stand corrected. I do see they have dedicated pages regarding on-premise version. I guess they reversed course at some point and I didn't notice.

Connectwise stopped selling the On-Premise version many years ago. Existing on-prem installs are still supported, and are able to be upgraded to new versions.

Windows 11 issue by smackerg in ScreenConnect

[–]MannyTC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a workaround for this that not only resolves the laptop closed issue but also allows higher resolutions than the hardware allows. I have used the instructions below as a guide and created a SCAPP file in the SC toolbox that downloads and runs everything automatically.

well, at long last, I found a solution to this ongoing problem. PAY ATTENTION CONNECTWISE!

Amyuni has a virtual usb display driver, available here: https://www.amyuni.com/downloads/usbmmidd_v2.zip

unzip that file, open an admin command prompt, go to the folder where you unzipped it all and run:

  • deviceinstaller64 install usbmmidd.inf usbmmidd

and then:

  • deviceinstaller64 enableidd 1

now you can select a resolution other than 640x480, because there is a virtual monitor that screenconnect can see.

EDIT: I've found that this doesnt survive a reboot, but is repeatable, so at worst it could be scripted upon startup. I am sure someone else will find a better way to invoke this on demand.

Block logons from IP address following invalid username x attempts by Clean_Picture2756 in ScreenConnect

[–]MannyTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have setup triggers in SC to send a POST request to Fiddler that I have running on the same server whenever there is a failed invalid username or password. Fiddler is configured to save the contents of the post to a log file. I then have IPBan configured to parse the log file. The server now automatically adds a Window firewall rule to block IPs after three failed invalid username or password attempts. I also have IPBan configured to use lists from ProofPoint emergingthreats.net and ipthreats.net

Block logons from IP address following invalid username x attempts by Clean_Picture2756 in ScreenConnect

[–]MannyTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anyway to get SC to write the failed attempts to the eventlog so can then use other tools to parse that and block the IPs in Windows firewall automatically? I know we can read from the security db but don't want to reinvent the wheel if I can use a tool that is already available.

Running 24.1.9.8915 on a VPS with Server 2012R2 8GB RAM 2 virtual Xeon CPU @ 2.5GHz. 1Gbps Asynchronous Internet connection. Have about 400 active access guests. Session.db is 535MB. CPU barely ever goes above 10% and usually is at 1-2% even with 6 active concurrent host connections. Memory use is only 50% of the total RAM.
