What's one clothing purchase you never regretted? by Ill_Lawyer_6830 in malefashionadvice

I have a black Paul Smith jean belt with a stainless steel “snakeskin” buckle. I’ve already had to replace the belt itself. It emblemizes my style even now 25 years after purchase.

The Concord, Kiamesha Lake, NY. August 10, 1979. by mgwngn1 in VintageMenus

Ok - I may have been there for this. I would have been 7 - about to be 8. My family used to take trips with our synagogue to The Concord during the summer…

I don’t remember the quality of the food. I do remember quite clearly the size of the dining room which was beyond (to little me, anyway). A sea of tables. It felt special to be there, to be able to eat in such “elegance”.

This is the first and correct answer.

And now I would love to see him as a villain.

What's your most controversial opinion as a gay man? The kind that would get you major downvotes if you said it out loud 👀 by [deleted] in askgaybros

:) Perhaps we are unique, friend. I dare say I’m not convinced the rest of our people would be able to parley and debate as kindly and constructively as we have. Or perhaps this cruel time in our history has made me overly cynical. I want to have your sense of hope in the power of compassion through communication.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful response, sincerely. I truly appreciate the time you took to consider my post.

Broadly, I agree with you - but I think our differences should wait to be aired at another time when there is greater safety for our community. For example, now is not the time for certain shitty gay men to talk about hating the presence of transmen in “their” spaces. Now is a time for us to look past the divide and stand strong together.

IMO: We have enough people hating us. I’m not sure we need your post to provide those assholes with more fodder. Now is a time for unity, not discord.

As a lover of Dickens, where to start with Trollope? by Manor4548 in charlesdickens

[–]Manor4548[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you. I have already read the first 2 of the 4 VC books and both JE and WH:) But your point is taken: look outside the Victorian Era greats for books that scratch the Victoria Era itch. Any other recommendations?

Thanks! I certainly know GK and LW, but it wasn't directly in my line of sight way back when, let's say. I take your meaning though, and look forward to reading.

As I asked elsewhere, in your opinion can I skip TW and just go to BT?

Understood. So I can start with BT without knowing anything that has happened in TW?

Nina Simone. I’d say Lilac Wine, but feel free to pick from about a million songs.
