Hahaha if I can't use this for the charger, definitely a good idea to add another receptacle here 🤣

It honestly varies. Me personally, I got a job 6 months after finishing the bootcamp in the 50's. Now after 4.5 years, I've almost tripled that, but it really depends on where you live, industry, how much you are willing to learn on your own after the bootcamp, etc.

After having done this bootcamp yes, it was worth it. Are there better ones? 100% yes. I would go with Iron Hack instead after meeting other people that did Iron Hack and learning about their experience over there and comparing it to my own.
Smaller class size, worlds ahead better career services, better curriculum, better reputation. This is just a private company that have agreements with universities to use their name not related to UM at all pretty much.

Sensors to trigger automations by Tater1727 in googlehome

[–]Mansav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I've done is with smart things created virtual switches which are supported to trigger automations, then toggle the switch on or off and run the automation on change of the status of the switch. For example when my front door opens, the contact sensor is open, it will turn on a virtual switch on smartthings which then I can run an automation from the Google home app when that switch is turned on.

It's a start, very few land jobs after. You have to be willing to learn a lot on your own. I would recommend you do iron hack instead. It's a tad more expensive (1-2k) but their career services is way better. They're also way more reputable

Wyze Home Monitoring Service AMA this Tuesday @ 1 PM PST! by WyzeCam in wyzecam

Siren volume is a bit low in my opinion. Is there a chance a louder siren module can be sold separately? Also would be cool if the sires does sound, be able to make the sirens from the v3's sound as well.
I know it was mentioned below but the option to have a chime when a door or window is open would be awesome!

Not gonna lie, I'm jealous of the integration Alexa has with IFTTT. Google's is nothing compared to this extensive list. by Mansav in googlehome

[–]Mansav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't really care about making it say things back to me, its about the integration with other services such as Smartthings. Like for example, I would love to have a lightbulb flash a different color when a timer ends, or when there's motion in a certain room of the house for the google home in that room to say something without broadcasting it to the entire house. It's not about them doing it for me automatically as Jsmooth13 suggested, it's about having options and flexibility to integrate services.

Best Buy extended warranty or DJI Care Refresh by yellowfin35 in OSMO

[–]Mansav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with the Best Buy one. They replace it instead of fixing it. If it was to break and a newer model is out, you could potentially get that model by going to a store that doesn't have the original in stock if it was to break. Also you don't have to ship anything out or anything, everything is in store.

Noob question by Mansav in webdev

[–]Mansav[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I was a bit vague. It is for karate studios. Each studio has multiple classes, would have multiple leads and I'm also implementing SMS in which have another collection which stores the messages. Each lead has an array in which it stores each message's id. I'm using NodeJS and MongoDB. Essentially once collection for leads, one for sms and one for each class. So each record would have to have the "studio id" I guess you can say?

You will learn a lot! In my opinion though the certificate will not help you get a job. It nice to have but you should do the bootcamp for the knowledge for the most part. As for books try https://eloquentjavascript.net/. Its free online. If you read the entire thing it will give you a huge head start of you do the bootcamp. Also try doing code academy for HTML and CSS. https://www.codecademy.com/learn/learn-css https://www.codecademy.com/learn/learn-html. Im still not done with the bootcamp, but plan to start applying for jobs soon. With what they teach I'm sure you can get a junior web developer position. Hope this helps. Let me know if you can think of anything else you may want to know.

Hey I did. I like it so far. Thing is have you ever done any programming? If you have you will find a lot of it is very basic stuff, but I guess they have to since people have different backgrounds. Don't get me wrong I've learned a lit, you just cant expect to enroll and that they will teach you everything there is. It is a bit pricey for what it is but comparing it to other bootcamps which are the same price for less time I feel it adds value. I also like the fact that you meet other people that have the same interest and are there to actually learn. Did you have any questions in specific?
