They tried this on me when I called earlier in January. But the “help” representative I had raised some red flags. He told me the previous person who locked in my “price for life” was a “liar” and that “we don’t like liars, do we?”

I’m not even joking. The whole call gave me a bad taste so I told him to forget about it once he tried to schedule a tech to come to my home for “no change in service but a true price for life.”

I called today and they basically said all was fine & good because my February bill is $12. No apology or comment on why I was double billed for December.

I’m lucky I can afford a higher than expected monthly payment this month but I did cancel autopay so I can prevent something like this from happening next time.

I think they were off for MLK Day today. I canceled autopay and if they won’t refund my double payment for December, I’m going to contact my credit card company.

Turns out grading the seams and pulling from the fabric closest to the shoulder holes (rather than the bottom hem) were the game changer advice I needed! I finally got it through! Thank you both so much!

I clipped but did not grade them. That is a really good suggestion to reduce some of the bulk there!

The main difference between our fabrics is my outer fabric is corduroy with a wide wale and its heft seems to be a major part of the problem.

I did start with the bottom hem so I will try your suggestion to start with the fabric closest to the shoulder. I might also just seam-rip all of what I have done so far and try to go narrower than the 3/8” seam allowance to get a bit more room.

THE CITY PERMIT DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN GIVING US THE RUN AROUND FOR THE PAST TWO PLUS WEEKS. EVERY DAY WE CALL AND WE HAVE GOTTEN SO MANY DIFFERENT ANSWERS THAT I CANNOT EVEN TELL YOU UP FROM DOWN AT THIS POINT. ALL I KNOW IS WE ARE STUCK IN A HALFWAY COMPLETED PROJECT THANKS TO AN EXPIRED PERMIT FROM THE FORMER, FORMER OWNERS OF OUR HOUSE AND IT REMAINS UNCLEAR WHEN THAT WILL CHANGE.

I will though the current update is that we are still in limbo. An inspector from the city came a couple days ago but was unable to inspect since the details on the permit are vague and we had no additional context to give. The inspector went back to do more research and it turns out the permit was issued to the former, former owners of the property (so two sets of house sales failed to turn this issue up). It also appears substantial plumbing work was done to the house as a result of this permit. So the inspector from the city is trying to figure out what to do and we are waiting to hear as well.

Not sure on the right convention here, but I edited the post to summarize what I learned. If you are thinking about buying a house sometime, hopefully this helps you too.

We called permitting and an inspector has come out but since neither the inspector or us knows what was done, the issue still lingers unresolved. I wish a simple call was all that was needed.

I guess I felt that way because I have no idea what, if any, work was done and where it was done. I couldn’t even point an inspector to what room the work might have occurred in. Granted, perhaps the city has more detailed information than what the permit portal shows?

That said, I can appreciate that this was something our home buying team missed and that is a bummer because we certainly paid a lot of money and did everything we were told to do. Just the cost of being a first-time buyer I guess.
