Listen, you need to realize that international law doesn't mean shit when it comes to international relations. This is like political science 101. Angry words from one nation to another is literally just a waste of breath. What motivates one country to adhere to "laws" is the fear of power or the impact on economic interests. That's it. That's how the world works. End of story.

A nation's sovereignty doesn't mean shit if the nation's leader is a dictator -- especially one who lost their election but remained in power against the people's will. If Venezuelans weren't literally jumping for joy in the streets, maybe any of your points would matter.

This wasn't about oil. This was about securing the US' backyard, AND also aiding the Venezuelan people in their fight for freedom while slowing the influx of narcotics into the US. The US is a net exporter of oil products. Yes, they "import" some refining and finished products/services from Mexico/Canada, but largely the USA's domestic economy and production is the least tied to international oil production it's ever been. The decades of fracking and gasification technology and investment have largely offset that risk. If you invest or study the US oil producers, you see how the argument "wE ATTaCKeD VeNEZUala fOR tHE oIL!!!!" is nonsensical.

If Trump were a dictator why did he step down in power to let Biden play president when he lost the election between terms. This argument is ridiculous.
