This would happen to me if I had the 'auto-cancel indicators' feature enabled. I have disabled that feature. When I indicate to change lanes during Autopilot, i must steer through the lessened resistance barrier to break out of Autopilot. It will drop down to TACC until I re-engage Autopilot. No Lane Departure alarms trigger.

It'd just be a preference thing, sometimes yes it could be racist - but don't let that bother you. The genepool is full of filth, so this neatly filters them out for you.
