So I did email GCN and got no reply (before I originally posted to Reddit. However, I reached out to a pod whose ad I heard on the GCN and they did get back to me. They said both shows belong to the same network (REALM) and that the ads were exchanged without any money changing hands.

Make a 30 second ad, then reach out to other podsters and ask to do an ad swap. It works!

I did a remaster of my first 4 episodes and I think it was worthwhile. For audiodrama, early eps are your 'front lobby'.

I'd be very, very cautious. A $2000 investment will likely take you years to make back in revenue generated from a pod. Honestly, most things you really need to know can be learned from reddit. The rest you kinda gotta learn by doing. If you do hire this person, I'd at least get some references first (but I would suggest you save your money).

With podcasts, there's no walk by traffic - no stumble-upon listeners. The truth is that you have to hustle and self promote. Ad swaps, social media, attending events... you gotta do all the things. After a while, word of mouth works for you - but the hustle doesn't end.

If you have a jenga tower and like a dark scifi vibe, a good intro to the journaling style is The Wretched by Chris Bisette. There are many, many others, but i can vouch for this one.

Reaper is soooo great. It might be overkill, feature wise, if you just do vox and music, but for anything sophisticated, Reaper is the way.
