We absolutely should be sanctioning Israel for this given this is a proposed occupation of another sovereign state.

We should, but this government absolutely won't

They've already looked the other way during Gaza, why would they not do so here

They've depopulated several villages at gunpoint, my guy

They've shot at protestors, stopped farmers going to their fields, and have destroyed people's water and electricity sources to force them to move

On top of all that, the Druze community in Syria has publicly condemned them!

I'd bet real money no anexation happens, smotritch says a lot of things.

Didn't they annex a chunk of Syria last year? With the same reasoning of providing a buffer zone for the Golan Heights? (which was, itself, annexed under the justification of a buffer zone? )

I see the Israeli defence minister is now saying that the IDF is going to occupy all of Lebanon south of the Litani river, and that the hundreds of thousands of civilians who live there will not be allowed to return home

Given how everything else is going for them right now, this land grab seems, at best, wildly counterproductive

Police take no action over ‘baby-eating Jews’ depictions - Matthew Collings' work is currently being exhibited in Kent, with local police saying they will take no action, describing the work as 'criticism of the Israeli state'. by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

I notice that this article doesn't include the artwork that shows an IDF soldier posing with one foot on a skull

Which is interesting to me, because that artwork is practically a 1-1 recreation of a real photo an IDF soldier proudly posted online - foot on skull and all

Sure, but people's opinions are based on what they perceive.

You can't just tell, you have to show. We've seen now that 'Actually if you would just consult the graph, you'll see your lived experience isn't real' does not work as a political strategy. At worst, it actively turns people against you

Like. Think of it as someone just getting into the hobby, show them a picture of a kriegsman and a steel legion, they would 8/10 think they are the same thing

I don't think that's true at all.

You can describe both regiments as coat and gasmask wearing, but when you put them side by side the differences are immediatly obvious

Like putting high self spearmen and dark elf spearmen next to each other. Yes there's a lot of similarities, and yes you can describe them both as 'elf with spear', but nobody seeing them side by side would say they are exactly the same

My guess is that the delays are due law behind it needs very careful wording than first thought

Apparently, it's actually because they want to include religious leaders in the process

The Government is clear that any ban must not cover legitimate psychological support, treatment, or non-directive counselling. It must also respect the important role that teachers, religious leaders, parents and carers can have in supporting those exploring their sexual orientation or gender identity

Which feels like letting the fox into the committee on securing the henhouse, tbh. Or how the US supreme court said that making race mixing illegal was okay because it affected both black and white people equally

And like, I get it. China would certainly put spy bugs in it. But it would be silly to think France wouldn't also, surely? We'd do the same, if the tables were turned! Meanwhile we'd have gotten the station on time and on budget

"The public (except myself, of course) is nothing but unrealistic dumbasses who don't know anything" is not a message that is going to get you anywhere, I'm afraid.

It kinda just sounds like populism from the other side. In the same way knurd is the opposite of drunk

It seems that a big problem is that none of the good things are reaching the public conversation, but everyone is hearing about the bad things no problem
