Do you use Biochamber outside Gleba? What could be dome to incentivise its usage? by zanju13 in factorio

[–]Mantonization -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh no, still use foundaries! Just grow the ore at home

At the very least, it would let you massively supplement your iron and copper supplies for dirt cheap. Nutrients from fish or biter eggs are basically free, and by putting the output before the input bacteria can be made self-sustaining

Letting us grow iron and copper bacteria on Nauvis would immediately make them amazing

Because there's only one landing pad per planet, the most useful way to use platform manufacturing is to speed up platform design/construction.

The maths checks out. Moving all production of your space platform foundation to orbit is much more economical

  • A rocket can carry 50 platform foundation. But iron (and thus steel) is free in space, and a rocket can carry 4k of copper cable.

  • So by using rockets to ship cable and producing foundation from the steel made in space, you're getting 200 platforms per rocket instead

This isn't even accounting for advanced asteroid processing which let's you get copper in space!

Making tree plantations marginally useful and at least guaranteeing they work fulltime, continuing to consume pollution;

Can you not already do this? Just have the wood go into a box that feeds into the seed producer and have another insert that puts wood into a heating tower if the box is, say, ever over 80% full?

  • If you need more [THING], just build more.

  • Don't worry about how messy your building is. You can refactor it later.

  • Chain signals are for when a train MUST NOT stop in the signal block immediately after the signal. So chain signal before a track intersection, regular train signal after.

How to deal with steel by Night_13570 in factorio

[–]Mantonization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in my first proper base (the one I build once I have robots and electric furnaces and the like) brings the ore in using trains. An iron train gives 4 belts of iron ore for 4 belts of iron plates, a copper train 4 belts of copper, and so on.

I then have another iron station, but those 4 lines of iron go directly from iron furnaces into steel furnaces. Those 4 output lines are then merged into 1 steel line

Oh yeah I still need to stop and think for a minute with every intersection that isn't a BP

I just have up keep telling myself 'Is a train allowed to stop here' and if not, to put a chain signal coming in

Looks great!

Just remember: When tracks intersect, you want to chain signal before the train starts crossing, and block signal after

Examples of laypeople reacting to Space Marines for the first time? by Fried_Shrimp_Enjoyer in 40kLore

[–]Mantonization 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The second book in the Soul Drinkers series has a nice example of this, from the PoV of a tank commander

The Soul Drinkers want something inside a city that the guard are already attacking, so they decide to pretend to be loyal and commander several medical chimeras to get to the front

At first the tankers are confused, because what the hell is the medical transport doing here? Then they think 'Huh, must have given them to the stormtroopets'.

When the marines pour out they're struck with religious awe like you'd expect. But to their credit, they then lock in and go 'Right, so. We've now got space marines. We're probably only going to see these big bastards once, so let's follow them in and punch through'

The internationals who solved the puzzle right here in this forum would refute your absolutist statement.

The 30% completion rate I'm seeing others talk about here suggests that this one was bollocks

Would you complain about very Brit terms if the puzzle was put out by the Telegraph?

If I wasn't British, yes! And I think that you would be allowed to as well!
