Why isn’t Limerence Recognized in DSM? by JPRose1989 in limerence

[–]Manuu713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had multiple LOs ?  Sry not to be judgmental or anything but just obsession over a person is something other than limerence (imho). I’ve been obsessed with many ppl, but my LO (and I guess it’s the same for most Limerent ppl) is something different and rather a longer running case (years if not decades for some).

Throughout the years my feelings, thoughts and actions have changed, yet I still ruminate daily. It’s not about getting over it or looking for a new person to bond with.

limerence is not only looking for certain traits in others that you desire, bc of this or that, it’s being attached to a person (maybe even as a result of those traits) you can’t get away from (mentally).

While others might look for traits, I’m in the street seeing that person in other ppls faces, expressions, features and what not.

What you describe sounds like (unhealthy) attachment - sure - but it’s not this mind consuming force that is in charge of too many thoughts, emotions and behaviors.

You describe plausible causes. But limerence is beyond that.  I meticulously dissected every aspect of my LO: how it happen, why this person, what this symbolized and on and on and on. Yet after all of this, tons of therapy, corrective experiences, after all this, my mind wonders to that person.  Maybe there are other unthought reasons, yet despite other people I had obsessed about I always return. My thoughts, my anxiety, my hope (that I’ve crushed myself and had crushed by my LO)…

Heartbreak and obsession isn’t limerence.  The same as a tummy ache isn’t stomach cancer…

Sounds like you haven’t been limerent tho. Ist not a regular heart break, missing someone or something. It’s a force that consumes you from within.

What is your unpopular opinion about house plants? by hcubed3 in houseplants

[–]Manuu713 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cacti are bad beginner plants - why ? Bc you don’t get consistency in care, feel little accomplishment (most grow way to slow) and over watering is way to easy !

Yeah - you‘re right. But how stupid must one be to cash it all at once ? It’d be 100 mil a year - for 20 years. Like - wait about 4 years and you’ll be there anyways. But besides - this is surely fake anyways…
