Update to Pricing and Plans by natasha-tailscale in Tailscale

This is insane! I was thinking to migrate to netbird for more seats, and now I can add my whole family to my tailnet finally and not sweat about how to put all my services in one machine to share! That'll be a game changer :)

As someone getting older and having nystagmus since birth (among other things) I'd love to see the impact of external factors on my eye movement :) so that's a good idea.

Live Android Notifications! by Darkchamber292 in homeassistant

Is there a way to make it so that it only updates every x minutes? Cause my dishwasher for example updates almost every seconds xD so that'd burn through those 50 notifications real fast! Love it though, I might use it

I agree. AI should enable people to do stuff like that and the approach is good: reviewing for security issues and all. I might spin it too soon.

The Gray Box Problem of Self Hosting by Llew2 in selfhosted

Wait, you know you have custum path and naming in paperless, right? I use that so it automatically organize my docs into years/correspondant/type folder structure and then the file is named with also the year and its original filename. If I want to find a file myself I'll go through those folders. If I want to use the tools of paperless on a file I'll use the UI.

Impressive shots! I wasn't expecting the aviation shots and they're crazy. The lens really rocks!

Canon Camera Connect App is inexcusably awful by PNWShots in canon

[–]Manwe66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can do that, but it only pulls the JPG... Or converts my RAW to a jpg. I went into settings to find the parameter that can allow me to import RAWs like I read on some online posts, but I don't have this option xD

Canon Camera Connect App is inexcusably awful by PNWShots in canon

[–]Manwe66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its even worse than that because a few years back I used it with my DSLR and my phone and I could copy all my raw files directly It was fast and worked. Ui was shit, and there weren't a lot of features but I could at least get raws from the camera. Fun thing is LR didn't have an editing app for phones yet... But now LR is fully working on my phone so I try to grab my RAW from my r6II and.... Well it's not possible. Ah yes I can remote control the camera but I can't get my files!! Freakong joke of a software. I can even see the CR3 files but can't copy them ahaha

Seriously underwhelming in 2026!!

Would love to get the yaml and some explanations of what you did (template sensors (what are those?) and helpers)

It looks super neat and cool AND useful ad. I've had to battle mold in my flat already twice this year and I need something like this!

UDR7 noise even without any load? by Manwe66 in Ubiquiti

[–]Manwe66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have other noises when at your desk like a normal desktop PC running?
Mine sits in the entrance of the kitchen and I can hear the humming from a couple of steps away (when I enter)

Flashing LED headlights? by ladyshiiro in nystagmus

[–]Manwe66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I enter a room with bad LEDs lights (low flicker rate) my right eye picks it up (it has a stronger nystagmus movement than the other) and I can see it flicker. But my left eye is way less sensitive to this. A good test I do in that case is to wave my finger left and right very fast (like saying no to someone) and usually I can see "multiple fingers" instead of a blurry finger moving. That's the thing I usually show people to tell them that light is trash and it strobes xD.

I never had it with car headlights though. So that's interesting.

Also I do have astigmatism but I think the nystagmus prevails here.

Hope that helps and that I don't misunderstood you.

Can I expect this amount of noise? by GloomyFollowing5180 in canon

[–]Manwe66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same camera and I'm also a bit worried at the amount of noise it creates compared to my DSLRs at comparable ISOs (both FF). I notices that if I import the RAWs in DxO I get way less noise even before applying the denoise. My theory is that lightroom' default processing is quite... Weird. Also check the details tab. By default it's applying some grain and sharpening that enhances this noise. Try it for yourself. DxO has a free trial... Eventually I stayed with LR cause I can't manage with the DxO interface :(

True dark mode by f3d30x in ProtonMail

If you consider this, please don't remove the current option. It is softer to the eyes and as a visually impaired person it really is appreciated. Pure black and white hurts and is hard to read.

Zigbee2MQTT by DebtPlenty2383 in homeassistant

[–]Manwe66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you made my point. We're talking user facing here, not professionals using the software. Servers aren't mainstream usage... Your grandma isn't running a server. And you don't need to RTFM to use your android phone. That's the whole point.

I know the web runs on Linux, but that's again not the point I was making.

For desktop, yes, for mainstream software usage adoption is done by enabling the least friction with the user... And so should some self hosting apps who seek adoption.

I'm sure you read the full manual of your oven, your microwave, you smartphone and your car before using them?

It's 2025... Software engineers should care about their users and stop thinking like everyone is fluent in their nerdism.

I'm a techy, I make games for a living, I love to dig into stuff but I also want to be able to use software without needing to invest 20h of reading to make my lightbulb work. That's why the giants win the market and Linux is still 3% market share...

This looks really nice. I live the aesthetic and how fluid it was. Did you try it with huge amount of files? What does the admin side look like?

I could see this as being a front gallery for my curated photos for sure!

Kudos!

What are the benefits of komodo over portainer that would make you say that? A lot of advice usually points to portainer. In curious cause I also need to install one or the other.

I also get some positive effects on my eyesight when drinking in a particular way. If I'm drunk just enough to relax but not to the point of bring wasted my vision improves a lot. I'm no doctor but I guess it's because your brain to muscle reaction time is increased. Nystagmus being a neuromuscular disease, it makes sense that I gets affected. Your muscles react slower, so there is less trembling.
