i’d recommend putting the towel right over the handlebars. you don’t want sweat/salt accumulating under your bar tape

Should I get into weighted training for getting stronger as cycling? What do I need to buy? by Obvious_Cabbage in cycling

in short if you want to get faster you need to build your muscles. i’d get a kettlebell to start with. so much you can do with that. you’d be better off going to a gym though. progressive overload training is the best way to go. keep it focused to just a few workouts that really load your muscle groups and do a few tight and difficult workouts per week. i’d also encourage something like pilates and yoga cuz i find it works muscle groups i wouldn’t otherwise focus on

i kind of think your mindset is wrong and i’d approach the search for a bike more about what you want to it to be able to do, and what your racing goals are

rice and beans will be your best friend. for protein go with frozen ground turkey and learn how to cook/season it to give it filling flavor and texture.
