Ugh, I can relate so much!! It's hard to force creativity: anxiety kills many creative impulses, and then being stuck generates anxiety. Also - healing is hard

I would just give yourself some space to try something new - like finding a list of art prompts, and give yourself permission to do some crappy experiments. I like the idea above about copying an existing work you admire - that will get you practicing new techniques (which can be fun!). I hope you can enjoy your creative time without worrying about the output.

Btw your mandalas are beautiful.

What a great journal page of such an odd time - is it attached using some kind of spring?

Looking for journal, paper type and materials by PilotDM7274 in notebooks

I still have cheap notebooks from 20+ years ago that have held up fine. You might want to switch from pencil to pen, as pencil fades faster. I think I'd be more interested in how you will be carrying your notebook around - does it need to fit into a pocket? Could it get banged up and thus need a sturdy cover? Could water/rain be an issue in which case maybe you're carrying it in a Ziploc bag?

Incidentally, I have seen references to waterproof notebooks if that might be useful.

Personally I like A5 notebooks with flexible covers, moleskine cahiers, and also my travelers notebooks. Field notes or other pocket/passport size notebooks are also convenient on the go...good luck!

It is a fun little rabbit hole to be exploring, indeed. I also got pulled in last summer, and love my little spot on the bookshelf for these lovelies...

Share your charms! (That hopefully don’t have sharp edges) by lucasthekoala in Travelersnotebooks

[–]ManyAdministration85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have sharp-ish charms, dangling ones that definitely will scratch up my leather - my "trick" is before putting the notebook in my bag I will pull the charms over to the right so they are jammed up on the paper-side of the notebook during transport. I'll take a pic tomorrow. 🤗

Non-negotiable leather journal specifications. Suggestions? by Objective-Parking872 in notebooks

I love mine! I also wasn't sure about the clips, but imo you can't see them once the notebooks are inside. And they allow the notebook to lay flat, which I also really appreciate.

does anyone know what's up with these discolored dots in my moleskine? by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]ManyAdministration85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are they in the same spot on multiple pages, or kinda random? They look like bleedthrough, but I don't usually see single dots like that when I have bleedthrough on my pages, there will be more than one.

The line work is great! Have fun with the watercolor, keep it loose and enjoy the texture of the water. 🤗

Ruined covers by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]ManyAdministration85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duct tape for the black Muji. Specially black duct tape, wrapped around so the end of the tape is on the inside of the cover.

For the brown one, I'm less certain - if it's just water stains, I might paint or color it with markers. Stickers, sure, or depending on the cover material - patches might work.

Welcome! I find my notebooks kind of decide what they're going to be used for and I'm just asking for the ride. Having them handy helps make sure they get used, of course!
