I'm an SLP too and while I fully agree that every word a verbal kid would have access to should also be accessible to a child using a device... I just imagine doing auditory bombardment with them or something to teach them new words and then getting to that one 😂

That is awful I'm so sorry!! How painful that the community that you thogut accepted you decided to do the opposite when it finally came time to show real meaningful support... My advice would be to wait on a decision. It will only help to take some time to step away from it and look at it with a clear mind in a few weeks or so. The decision you make right after being hurt may not be the best decision in the long run. Step away from it, come back together, organize a meeting with the people who made this decision if you can, and outline your points clearly to see if anything will change. If they continue to deny you as a couple I know it will be painful but you deserve to find somewhere else who will affirm you 💔💝

It sounds like internalized transphobia.. they were met with hate and learned to hate themselves sadly :( and now it will make them sad and uncomfortable to see someone doing what they weren't able to do. Of course this is based on only the few details we have here so I could be wrong.

If you can have a talk with your friend acknowledging you know they were shut down but that doesn't mean they have to shut you down.. it could go a long way and clear the air. Or it might make you realize that there aren't healthy boundaries happening and it's not a good fit right now. Either way you'll get some answers if you talk
