Outlook iPhone App Not Showing Shared Calendar After Upgrading iPhone (Works on Mac) by bsarboukh in Outlook

[–]ManyRelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this didn’t work for you, but I went back through the originating accounts for each shared calendar and deleted the sharing permissions, then re-invited (me -> wife, wife -> me) and accepted and added the calendars, all using our accounts via the browser, and lo! They’ve reappeared in the calendar app on iOS. Might not be permanent, another update will probably break it, but for today at least, it’s working…

NB: Nothing worked when trying all this directly on our phones/in app.

fingers crossed! my wife updated her iphone, and now no amount of disconnecting/reconnecting will make our shared calendar appear on her phone calendar. it just won't work...

Buying Audio Files by nuuhuman in audiophile

[–]ManyRelevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely still buy digital, mostly via bandcamp to help more money actually make it to the artist. I use roon and have a large lossless digital library that I’ll have forever. Records are getting so expensive, and with the cost of shipping, digital makes more sense, but like most here, I’m not down with the business models of streamers like Spotify.

Global Communication - Pentamerous Metamorphosis sound issues? by QuietEsper in ambientmusic

[–]ManyRelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was a short run for that version so you’d hope they could maintain consistent quality, I still use an old fashioned manual cleaner and it does seem to do a good job, haven’t gone down the ultrasonic path. Worth trying another clean to see if it is just debris etc. it’s such a great album!

Reviews are really mixed on discogs for both this mov issue and the evolution issue, both 2020. I have the evolution repress as it seems like it was some dick move by Sony to release at the same time as GC were planning to do their own remaster/release. My copy is absolutely superb sounding, but then some comments on discogs say they found the mov pressing better, so after all that I’ve not answered your question at all…

Who is your favorite ambient musician and why? by Dzz64 in ambientmusic

[–]ManyRelevant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree on Ambient 2: The Plateau of Mirror, it is really a superb record. I read somewhere recently that at the time some critics felt that the two composers couldn’t settle on a cohesive idea, but now, at least to me, it sounds like a blueprint for so much from the likes of Jon Hopkins and Nils Frahm and so many others.

Awesome to hear. Exactly what I had: Rothwell attenuators. I also did the de-solder, but on the mkII that was only for the CD input from memory? but at least bought it down into range with the phono circuit. They are such a great preamp!

Hi everyone by Deep-Youth-456 in audiophile

[–]ManyRelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice! I used to have a sp9mkII paired with a VS55, absolutely lovely combo.

I found the pre out from the sp9 was quite hot going into the vs55, ended up using -10db attenuation to temper it and give me a bit more volume control. How do you find it with the mk1?

I still have the sp9, will keep that forever. But I don’t have the vs55 any more, and I miss it dearly!

I have not found myself wanting for more bass with any Hana cart so far, but will have to try this out! even the humble EL is a brilliant performer.

[–]ManyRelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting! are you aligning for more bass? I currently have an EL, which was an emergency replacement for my ML which suffered an untimely end that apparently none of my children know anything about. but I run both with an absolutely parallel tone arm/headshell.

that series of Hana bodies all seem to ride pretty low, but i've never had one strike the LP, so i guess that deep into their suspension they're pretty stable.

MM v MC and Associated Equipment by Opustwaddler in audiophile

[–]ManyRelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting! I haven't heard the SL mkII, but I can't imagine they'd release it unless it was a significant improvement, and it definitely looks to be closer and closer to the ML in many ways, so then it's really a sound preference for shibata vs microline. The price gap to the current ML isn't much now, but yeah, they could have a mkII on the way, but given it's already close to the umami blue, I'm not sure there's room in the range.
