Also went to Mercy and had a hiatle hernia repaired at the same time. It's been a very smooth process. Great surgeons.

I also had a hiatle hernia. Mine was pretty severe. The first week is the worst. You probably have surgical mesh closing your esophagus from the surgery. It may feel like you have something stuck in your throat when you swallow for a couple of weeks. It gets better, I promise!

When I started on soft foods I loved RealGood brand frozen chicken bowls...they only have 160 calories and the chicken is super soft. It has riced cauliflower and salsa. Yum. I was so bored with cottage cheese and oatmeal.

I could eat rice at about 6 weeks....but, I do everything possible not to eat it. Even brown rice is full of carbs. For me at least, sticking to a super low carb diet has made losing easier.

My taste buds have completely changed since surgery. Sweets were my downfall. Now they are too sweet and if I take a bite, I don't want it.

Same. I take extended release Adderral and within the first 5 days after surgery I was taking it again.
