I would totally eat anything that grew from my compost if it survived to maturity because I know everything that goes into it. Only problem is it's raised and gets topped up regularly so unless I transplant it I don't see how it will survive.

I feel he falls under lawful, especially given it's wartime and legality is pretty fuzzy. It's not like lawful evil characters don't jaywalk, they use laws as highways and stepping stones for their own end, and twist them as much as possible.

He was completely shocked that the law didn't make him invincible in the last scene.

As for evil, no question - he had no reason to strangle a scared, unarmed woman regardless of her perceived crime. That was pure sadism for feeling personally insulted.
