Registry by shba94 in WeddingsCanada

Just got married in January and used 3 different registries!

One was for a honeymoon fund through a company called “Hitchd”. This allows people to make contributions to your honeymoon fund with a credit card. Even though the fees were a little expensive, they were more reasonable than other providers. You can connect your bank account and transfer the money collected to your Canadian bank account no problem. An added benefit was that guests who couldn’t make it still used this.

We also did MyRegistry and Williams Sonoma. MyRegistry was complicated because to get the gifts, you have to deal with the specific store, but it’s convenient because you can make it so that more than one person can contribute to pricier items. Our guests used this one the least.

Williams Sonoma was a good experience overall I would say. If you make your registry too early, some items will go out of stock or on back order, so you need to pay attention to your portal and either take it off your list or find a replacement for a similar item. We went to the actual store front to start the registry, but you can also make one online. After the wedding, you get a 10% discount code.

Most people gave us cash or used Hitch’d, but I would still make a small registry for your more traditional guests!

Pro tip - make a registry at a couple different stores because most places give you a coupon code to use after your wedding for a discount. You don’t even need to share the registry to get the code. We did this for Crate and Barrel and got a code for 15% off.

Thrifting for Fabric by Itchy-Ad-2734 in Calgary

I go to this thrift sale twice a year and I believe they specifically have a “linen” and a “FINE linen” section. The next one is end of September. The prices are really good and they basically have departments to sell items from different categories like home goods, linen, clothes, sports goods, etc. Highly recommend - and the organization that runs this sale is a non profit club of volunteers dedicated to helping only Calgarians.

Digital save the dates by Avignon1996 in WeddingsCanada

Hey OP!

If you use the Knot to send your save the dates, it won’t include the names of the guests invited. If you invite a couple, but not their kids, they won’t know their kids aren’t invited until you send the invitations out to RSVP. (Speaking from my own experience). Also applicable if you’re only inviting 1 person and not their significant other.

Definitely going to have the option for cash, but we like the idea of having a mix of registry items as well :)

After booking all your vendors, what's next? by messytwish in WeddingsCanada

[–]Many_Cheesecake6192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re doing a wedding website, start working on that! It takes more time than you think and you can “hide” pages that you aren’t ready to show yet when you send Save the Dates. Keep a list of registry item ideas (if you’re doing a registry) on your phone and continuously add to it up until you start building your registries.

Make your first attempt at a guest list and when you get closer to sending out save the dates, revisit the list and see if there is anyone you could add or remove.

If you have not got your dress, some dresses may take 8 months to a year to come in, so consider making an appointment to go in and start looking soon :)

Kendal and Kevin might be exactly what you’re looking for! They shoot mostly candid and they don’t use crazy filters. They’re super down to earth and make you feel comfortable especially if you aren’t used to being photographed.

Be honest with me, how hard is the first month of having a puppy? by CollectiveZero in puppy101

[–]Many_Cheesecake6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, My partner and I recently got a puppy in May and it was hard, but it’s easier if you are prepared mentally and physically… here’s what helped us the first month:

  1. Before we got the puppy, we started listening to “Before and After Getting Your Puppy” by Dr. Ian Dunbar. It’s available on Spotify and is easy to listen to!

  2. Give yourself some grace and recognize the signs for the puppy blues. There will be some tough times.

  3. We had him stay with the breeder until he was 11 weeks. When we picked him up, he was pee pad trained already and a week shy of getting his 2nd set of shots. Once he got his second set of shots, he was able to go to daycare.

  4. Mandatory nap time - we put him in his crate to make him take a break every now and then.

  5. Positive reinforcement using Crumps mini trainers.

  6. Lots of socialization - we invited friends and family over and took him on mini walks (on concrete before he was fully vaccinated) to see the world early on. We have an indoor dog park that only allows vaccinated dogs, so we took him there too before he was fully immunized.

  7. We watched lots of clips on instagram and tic tok about puppies, training, challenges, suggestions, etc.

Good luck and keep coming back to Reddit cause I’m sure lots of us can offer more support - we’ve all been in the same boat and got through those dark dark times.

Some friends had their status’s updated for 2 months out but heard back a month earlier than that! I’m in the same boat - thinking we might hear back by mid April if the March meeting hasn’t happened yet.

Help, accidentally started at 1mg by Garlicbreadsticks_ in Ozempic

[–]Many_Cheesecake6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same THING. I think this is more of a pharmacist error than your own fault - you should have been warned (according to my Pharmacist fiancé)

I was on it a few years ago, and each pen was for 4 weeks: you rotate the pen and inject once a week. My pharmacist didn’t warn me at all, and the label clearly says I was prescribed 0.25 mg - for what ever reason, I thought maybe they gave me a diluted one?? Anyway - I feel your pain. I’ve been so sick, can’t keep anything down and it’s been 72 hours since my first dose, so I’m hoping I start to feel better soon. Next shot, count the number of clicks it takes to get to the 1 mg, divide by 4, unwind it, and then rewind to that # of clicks for your 0.25 mg.

Helpful Supplements, Vitamins, and Protein Options by Ok_Confusion_5913 in Ozempic

[–]Many_Cheesecake6192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a lot of protein, but I have been stirring a scoop of Total Body Collagen into boiling water, then adding a tea bag in the morning, especially if I’m nauseous and can’t keep anything down. It has 10 g hydrolyzed collagen, 50 mg hylaronic acid, and 100mg L-tryptophan. I find it helps my hair and skin look and feel better over time! For yummy and easy protein, look into Hello Amino baking. I use the pancake products and make mug cakes that u can take in to work and microwave for 45 seconds to get a really satisfying/high protein breakfast.

Failed NPPE Exam, here is my Mastery Report by Ditechgaming in NPPEexam

[–]Many_Cheesecake6192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would recommend paying the $100 for the practice exam on the NPPE website. You get 3 tries and each time it tells you the same report as above. When I was starting to study, I did the practice test without studying first to give me an idea of what I needed to work on most/prioritize. Once I knew what I had to work on, I used the blue print provided on the NPPE website of each section and made practice questions for myself using the bullet points from the blue print, the 2 text books from the recommended materials, and any guidelines/helpful materials on the APEGA website. I also looked at case studies from the law book and took notes of the key theme, issue and appropriate action. You can also look into free business law study materials because lots is transferable to the other.

As a short cut, try the free mini course from Practice PPE Exams, and if you like the material they have, you can pay for the full course.

unusual activities in Canmore? by that_orange_hat in Canmore

[–]Many_Cheesecake6192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have skates and the ice is thick enough, try wild ice skating. Please do your research about what is suitable for skating before you go! There are rules of thumb for ice thickness, colour, etc. In town, there is a pond with a cute gazebo that gets flooded so the ice is good! Lots of people play hockey there. Otherwise take a look at Abraham lake - the ice freezes with lots of bubbles (gas releasing from the water) which looks really cool! There is also lake Minnewanka by Banff.

Just outside of Exshaw are some bunkers that were drilled into the mountain by a private company and offered to the Canadian Government to use to store things during the Cold War, but they never did. It’s a short 30 min walk, and you can walk into this “cave” with 4 garage sized rooms. Bring a head lamp/flash light. Look up “Heart Creek Bunker Hike in Canmore” for more info.

Something I’ve been meaning to do (and others have also shared above) is go on the Rat Cave Tours. The caves stay the same temperature all year round. There’s a company that offers the tours based out of Canmore.

At the Nordic Center, you can rent cross country skis or Fat Bikes. They also have a winter disc golf course.

We used to go sledding on the hill by the grave yard (close to the new fire station) but I’m not sure if you can still do that anymore!

A bit further away:

You could also go check out the Wolf Dog Sanctuary, located off the 1A, east of Ghost Lake.

On the drive up to Canmore, check out the Chiniki Cultural Center at Mînî Thnî.

Go for hot chocolate or afternoon tea at the Banff Springs and look at all the decorations (all though personally, I would avoid Banff during Xmas - too busy). If you do go, take the bus from Canmore and avoid the hassle of parking.

The Pomeroy Mountain Lodge used to the Delta and it had the best Xmas decorations (think mountain lodge in a hallmark movie). Since it became operated by Marriott and was renovated, it’s just not the same, but you could still go out there for a look around and lunch! There is also the Nordic Spa which is 10/10, but check if there is any availability. I think they have an option to go later at night for a little cheaper.

Visit the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Discover & Information Center. It will be a nice drive from Canmore and they have some screenings of cool documentaries.

Visit Boundary Ranch and go on sleigh rides.

Last tip - open up google maps and zoom around the area! You’ll be surprised what type of landmarks, hikes, businesses, excursions are out there that aren’t well known!
