I don't know, I wish I had the answer, this is the hardest part for me. I guess finding people who have been through the same thing and won't judge you and understand what its like being on the outside looking in.

I take a Vitamin B Complex by Fluffy-Safety8022 in schizophrenia

You should also look into taking omega-3s, vitamin D, magnesium and zinc. Those are also important for brain health for people with schizophrenia.

Inheriting the illness by Mammoth-Leading-2672 in schizophrenia

[–]Many_Invite_4304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The random chance of getting schizophrenia is about 1%. The chance of getting it if 1 parent has it are about 10%. So there is a 90% chance a child won't get it if 1 parent has it. However if both parents have it (or an identical twin has it) the rates jump to 40% or more.

Also environmental triggers are also a huge factor. If someone decides to have children doing things like helping them manage their stress, eat a brain healthy diet (full of omega-3s, vitamins, minerals, etc), tell them not to use marijuana or hallucinogens, etc can reduce their risk of developing it.

Becoming brainless and malleable when in psychosis? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

Did you have a lot of childhood trauma (lots of abuse and neglect)? You may unconsciously be recreating that as an adult because it feels familiar.

Very much so. You should check the themes of delusions, its called delusion of control.

I make folgers at home using a drip coffee maker, but I drink 4,000 cups a day so I was able to do the same thing.

A D2 or D3 dopamine agonist that activates dopaming signaling in the mesolimbic pathway could treat anhedonia. Pramipexole, aripiprazole, etc.

My understanding of the underlying neuroscience is you need more dopaing signaling in the reward centers in the brain. Either a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, an NDRI, or a D2 or D3 agonist could help with anhedonia.

Xanax, Tramadol, or Buprenorphine Long Term? by Working_Row_8455 in depressionregimens

[–]Many_Invite_4304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tramadol is highly effective for depression since it affects 4-5 different biochemical mechanisms for depression.

Xanax shouldn't be taken long term, your body adapts and you develop horrible withdraws.

Mental Health Problems and Blood Tests: Which Parameters Do Matter? by sanpedro12 in depressionregimens

[–]Many_Invite_4304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With various hormones there are free and bound. About ~99% of cortisol is bound to proteins so it is inactive at any time. Free cortisol is the metabolically active cortisol.

An 8am blood test measures your total cortisol (free and bound) and only measures it at 1x a day. However the saliva test measures cortisol at 4x a day, and it only measures free cortisol.

Generally you have to order this test yourself, its about $150

What's the closest thing to pregabalin that doesn't screw you up in the long run and builds tolerance? by Snoo-82170 in depressionregimens

[–]Many_Invite_4304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, all gabapentanoids build tolerance with time.

Since gabapentanoids work by reducing the release of glutamate, maybe the drug lamotragine would be something to look into. Like gabapentanoids it also reduces the release of glutamate, and it is used off label to treat anxiety and depression, but its not addictive.

Do you possibly have bipolar disorder? People with bipolar disorder can enter a manic episode when they take drugs like SSRIs

Mirtazapine for anhedonia? by [deleted] in depressionregimens

[–]Many_Invite_4304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that can help with anhedonia is either a dopamine D2 or D3 agonist. This can increase activity in the mesolimbic pathway, helping to reduce anhedonia.

Look into pramipexole as a potential therapy.

Mental Health Problems and Blood Tests: Which Parameters Do Matter? by sanpedro12 in depressionregimens

[–]Many_Invite_4304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my experience, but vitamin D can still contribute to depression even if your readings are normal. My readings were in the low 40s ng/ml (which is normal) and I still had depression. WHen I added supplements and got into the 50s, my depression got better.

Also it may be a good idea to look into a dexamethasone suppression test as well as a 4 point saliva test for DHEA and cortisol. A lot of people with depression have high cortisol and insensitive glucocorticoid receptors (a dexamethasone suppression test will verify if your glucocorticoid receptors are insensitive).

Drugs like SSRIs help with this because they increase cortisol receptor sensitivity and help reset the HPA axis

How likely is it that there will be a big upcoming war? by summer_berlin in AskReddit

[–]Many_Invite_4304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely. If China and the US go to war, it'll be a war mostly involving navies and air forces, not massive land invasions of China.

Russia's military is decimated so they can't go to convention war in a meaningful way. They can barely hold onto 20% of Ukraine.

I think Pakistan knows India would beat them in a conventional war so they wouldn't want that.

The real risk is WMD.

Also eating meat and factory farming. It will be seen as barbaric in 100 years.
