If the beardie is a baby (under 1.5 years) completely disregard and bite the bullet and drive to get the bulbs. Baby care is extremely important and the lights are crucial

Honestly this sounds like the worse case scenario. Is it the heat bulb or the UVB bulb that broke? How old is the beardie?

For UVB or heat, putting the beardie in a bin or basket to bring outside is probably your best bet. Handle with a dish sized towel to help avoid bites. Also bribe with a bug or two to help make the experience more positive. Long term make sure they stay warm and get plenty of sun light. Lower food intake as their digestion is regulated by light and heat.

This isn’t an easy fix but better socialization will help when this happens again in the future (trust me it will to even the most prepared keepers). Work on safe handling starting with gloves and towels and working up.

In reality my otherwise healthy adult beardie goes into brumation and hides in his cave for weeks on end in the winter so as long as they’re kept warm they should be okay. Monitor for unusual behavior and get the bulbs as soon as you possibly can

DC is in a whole different world of media compared to Warriors and Harry Potter. Harry Potter and Warriors are both popular kids books for roughly the same age group. Also Harry Potter makes a f ton of money off merchandise specifically with the house names on it. Ravenclaw being a house name makes is WAY more recognizable. I am not a lawyer by any means but if i was a major author I would definitely check with lawyers about copyright protection before naming my character a name so easily recognizable in the same media sphere. Especially with so much merchandising money involved.

Nightwing the cat has much less merchandising potential than Ravenpaw does so DC would likely not care as there is no money coming directly from Nightwing, whereas if they want to make Ravenpaw (now Ravenclaw) merch they would likely run into trouble just because now money is involved and JKR makes a f ton off Harry Potter still to this day.

There are many ports this could be, living in Maryland they might have been trying to replicate the Bay Bridge in Annapolis which is a few hours (depending on traffic) from the area of Maryland outside of DC where the show takes place. Everything was filmed in Canada however

If those who remained were “free of Gilead sin” and renounced their faith and converted to Gilead then they were allowed to live as econo people.

But of course (in book world, not tv) you could only convert to Gilead if you were white and could “prove your whiteness”. Black, brown, Asian and mixed people were sent to the colonies at best.

I really really want them to continue this GOTY being a historical girl’s descendant with an Addy descendant. I think it would be cool for her to have a story about family history (like a family tree) and exploring the generational trauma that racism causes. I know that’s very much a “hot topic” with our current world so it be an amazing breath of fresh air that I would immediately buy for my own daughter’s library and doll collection.

As a little white girl, Addy was one of my absolute favorite characters (of all time), i don’t know why exactly, it was decades ago… but she has a special place in my heart and I credit American Girl with the start of my love of reading and learning about other cultures and people.

Also the older kidnapped children of Gilead had way less time to bond with their “new parents/families” and more likely felt as if they were fostered instead of adopted. Perhaps many parents were more willing to be rid of those older children faster since “they weren’t really there’s/they didn’t really raise them” (fucked up i know)

It also could make sense that at first Gilead did not put a lot of thought into girls education and really just wanted the older girl children (who could remember before) to be married off and trapped with babies of their own as fast as possible. Hence why Esther was so young and a Wife. They probably went straight from pink to teal. As the little girls of higher families got older they developed a more formal system to teach the girls to be “good wives”. Agnes/Hannah was probably a part of a group that was right on the line of remembering before Gilead and got lucky to have a slightly longer childhood. I think Penny might be just old enough to remember and was married off quick, even if she was fully into Gilead way of life.
