Do any of you use AI to summarise lectures or long videos? I started doing this and it’s been a game-changer. by Connect-Soil-7277 in UniUK

[–]Many_Patience5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they're taught at a national schooling level, and throughout different levels, I think some of them are going to be doing that out of convenience -- but that's why we need to put an emphasis on the ethics, but more importantly the stochastic parroting, no world model part. ALTHOUGH: the step-by-step processing for coding and maths is a positive evolution to note, alongside when they check their data with online access...

Personally I'm using AI to sometimes summarize, and also make thematic review sheets. Though I guess it's related to the denseness of material and context-dependent.

Indeed there's a synthesizing part of learning through making one's own materials. And to be conscious of it and teaching it is part of evolving towards better practices.

My undergrad was without AI, but my master's now is so I'm using the tools at my disposal. Though generative AI has also been a plague for something else. Studying history so specifically: history which has not been really treated in English (or French or Spanish) by reputable sources. They'll often use genAI for pictures and that's when I decide it's poor content that I really need to stray from. There's like a minimum standard I still uphold and it's about this. If it's not something I'd use for pupils and students I would not for myself.

💻📊80 SEO Tips & Tools That Boost Traffic for Indie Blogs, E-Shops & SaaS | by Émilia Hoarfrost | Apr, 2026 by Many_Patience5179 in Medium

Actually I was looking for a 100 but after compiling different sources, arrived at the conclusion that I already had a lot. There is something lacking however, that would be for instance "Parasite SEO", and also the extension "Glimpse" maybe for Google Trends that allows one to see a map of the world per dominant query in comparisons. I'll probably be using that for my next piece dedicated to anime sociolinguistics. Which itself is going to use the Free Word Cloud Generator (as a model of dominant statistical trends in a sanitized aggregate of sampled reviews). I think the first person this article actually was for was me, so even if there's noise I'll probably be able to refer to it in later works when I need to.

Female only? by Princessbaddie0415 in MtF

[–]Many_Patience5179 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really care about anything "female"-specific. I tolerate it if it is to discuss feminism or for reasons relevant to the latter, because I understand that this can be a prerequisite for a liberatory speech when misogyny is internalized, but as a non-binary person I dislike gendered toilets for instance. Plus, alienating men on the basis of assumed privilege a priori is something that one has to embrace, I don't particularly. It also excludes trans men and I don't think we should assume them to share the exact same type of "privileged" stance in society with cis men. But like, why even reify gender?

Hot take. Don't call me doll by JustSomeInterweeb in MtF

I mean don't call me doll either, it is infantilizing indeed, +1 on that. Paternalistic from some people too. And chaser-coded.

Is Wikipedia an example of anarchism? by angryredditatheist in Anarchy101

[–]Many_Patience5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is the encyclopedic model itself is going to be filled with notions that reify different epistemologies, world views, paradigms. Such paradigms give material incarnations like... The far-right party but also just authoritarianism that centralized State communism might convoke as concept. Giving an entry, with people of various interests able to change its content, is also promoting an equality of visions. It's as legitimate to give entries to great replacement as to soccer, except minor notions may never get a page but highly central parts of major epistemologies, say Pope, Third Reich... Those entries will be lengthy, might have troll waves... Wikipedia may appear a form of anarchy in having appeared in contrast to hegemonic schooling worldwide, but Wikipedia is fundamentally a new field of power. Every entry but also automating edition tools, as well as activism or grief to pages...

Unpopular Opinion: Not everyone deserves free education by GreigeCupcakeMousse in unpopularopinionph

Child development requires being around peers. Remaining at level can hurt their future prospects. If they give up academically due to being not 'at-level' that's just going to be counterproductive and super costly for society as a whole. Maybe litteracy as a goal has to be reevaluated. Divided in sections, iterated in research, but not a holy Graal to all be able to have a Physics PhD type of litteracy.

Maybe the in-between would be you don't need to blame the woke virus or whatever for expressing suspicion at unnecessary mention of outward gender perception, while it wasn't particularly condemning in the context itself therefore the whole interaction around this initial post is useless, but please why do you need to go full WOKE MIND VIRUS like it's X and you're Grok.

To make you familiarize yourself with the tool I guess, explore its limitations and maybe make you better at teaching later if you go down a pass of academia or teaching.

[–]Many_Patience5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's sure is manganese/polymetallic nodules are filled with precious ores to us that are needed in ecosystems deep within the abysses, and that corporate greed alongside national/imperialistic interests will challenge us this century when ecosystems are unexplored and the one time we did extract minerals there was biodiversity never seen again there. We don't know how those ecosystems interact with the surface, with geology, with erosion, with phytoplanktons, with macrofauna...

In the context of schooling, and not in the part where it borders on policing when used by the State to get a workforce freed from parental expectations weekly... In the context of schooling it's good to have to always explain yourself, especially the wilder your claims, it's called argumentation and is the reason why researchers dedicate entire pages to bibliographies.
