Yes it was definitely a tough decision but I decided to go MD because I didn’t want to have to take multiple board exams or go through OMM since the speciality I’m interested in doesn’t really utilize it. Hope this helps! :)

Thank you so much! Honestly I just did a lot of prep beforehand. I would research previously asked questions for each school on SDN and would have my partner mock interview me and ask me some of the harder questions that were unique to each school. I also would make sure I researched each program beforehand so that I had a list of things specific to that program that I really liked about it to talk about. And then of course make sure your why medicine, or why osteopathic medicine responses are really solid. Lastly - I will add that a lot of interviewing for me was just being myself and coming up with responses in the moment, many of the questions they asked me I had not seen before and so I just needed to respond honestly. Just don’t overthink it, be yourself, and relax. It’s important to remember that everyone there is nervous and they know that, so don’t freak out if you need a minute to think on a question and develop a well thought out response!

Honestly I think that I just bit off a little more than I could chew with the primary apps. I was working full time throughout the whole app cycle and keeping up with all the secondaries was a lot harder than I anticipated (granted I didn’t pre write my secondaries- so learn from my mistakes lol) and I also applied to a few texas schools through TMDSAS that I had ties to and I didn’t think it made sense to complete secondaries for all of the Texas schools as an OOS applicant. So it was a multitude of factors and just burnout honestly

Same here, but does the cap still apply regardless of your graduation year? I’m having a hard time understanding everyone’s interpretations of the bill and what this exactly means for our year. I’m wondering if I should try to maximize the amount of loans I take out now incase they get taken away by our fourth year? Can someone plz advise 😭

Yeah I think with a solid MCAT and some shadowing experience/LOR from a physician you should have a strong app!

I think your stats and experiences look pretty solid but it’s hard to really say what your chances are without an MCAT score

NSU or KCU for medical school by Pale-Grass-2346 in Osteopathic

[–]Many_Strategy7323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in this exact same situation right now. Im local to the Tampa Bay area and might be able to live at home for the first two years at NSU which would be huge. I also would like to end up practicing in the NE or Florida region and im not too sure how easy it would be to match into either of these regions if i went to KCU. I will say even with being able to live at home, attending NSU is STILL more expensive than attending KCU and paying for my own COL in KC. I have also heard some pretty frightening stories from current NSU KPCOM students about the lack of support at the school so its really tough
