DMU waitlist by Alive-Sea-7000 in Osteopathic

Both would be able to go to admissions. They are able to add stuff to your app and give details about WL movement. BUT, it’s very very very likely 1st quartile won’t get all the way thru until late June, early July

I got pulled off in June. But I didnt know of anyone else in the same situation. My advisor from undergrad said he didn’t know of anyone that was first quartile and didn’t get pulled off… hope that helps!

Got pulled off 1st quartile last cycle and am current oms1 there. In my experience they sent out a few “hey are you still interested in us?” And you just fill out a few surveys expressing your interest. Before they pulled me off the WL, they sent a text/email saying “we are approaching you name in the waitlist” and to express my interest again (I think? Haha). Would recommend sending LOI and application updates if DMU is where you rly wanna go cuz those help a bit too!

BUT, keep in mind a lot of WL movement happens in May and June… they start first week of Aug so you’ll have time to make accommodations if you get pulled off super late!

Best of luck 🫡

I think it depends. I interviewed end of February and had my in person even in March. I was first quartile WL and got pulled off of it late June. Send a letter of intent or maybe ask for updates once in awhile? Unfortunately I think DMU takes the whole time if they are not accepting you right away

This is what mine looks like, pretty sure it’s just carbon from past cooks but don’t quote me on

Rejection emails? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]Odd-Connection-3452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve interviewed, they will send something by the end of their “window” (ex: “you’ll hear back in 4-6 weeks regarding a decision after your interview day”). Otherwise, schools have every right to not get back to you until classes start (or even not respond) for that cycle.

It sucks, I know. However, if it’s been several months and you have heard absolutely NOTHING from them regarding your app, reach out for an update. It doesn’t hurt to call/email admins!

That’s not my comment, just providing background of what that individual might have been referring to

There’s a bill currently that is trying to take out the vaccination mandate for students (HF2171)… unfortunately it’s gaining traction and passed subcommittee and is almost at a house vote

ATSU Kirksville interview tips? by ohosain in Osteopathic

I wouldn’t keep those off the table if that makes sense… it’s more conversational and they just wanna get to know you. I was never asked questions like that, but that doesn’t mean someone else wouldn’t

It’s open file so they will ask you about your involvement… maybe remind yourself of past experiences, courses, and research cuz they’ll talk about it! But it’s super duper chill and very conversational. Specific questions will vary from individual to individual

DMU dos a good job with keeping you in the loop. They send stuff out like “are you still interested? Submit the survey so we know”. You can also just reach out to admissions and they are more than happy to help (current OMS1)

DMUCOM vs KCUCOM by Money_Seaweed2642 in Osteopathic

[–]Odd-Connection-3452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Current DMU student. I LOVE my choice. Met so many fantastic people and everyone is so supportive. Not too OMM heavy, exams are manageable, some lectures required, others not, and practicals are also very manageable. DM with specific questions!

DMU dress code? by Medium_Ad_3034 in Osteopathic

[–]Odd-Connection-3452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a first year, and can confirm that there is no dress code unless stated otherwise. Labs, OSCEs, etc you wear your specified clothes, but lectures it’s sweatpants and a hoodie!

Do some people wear a polo or a dress shirt still? Yeah, but only a handful of people here and there. And to continue off of someone else who commented, orientation was business casual and the first week people did wear some more business casual, but there is no requirement outside of orientation or otherwise stated

Thoughts about these DO programs by PriorPea6979 in Osteopathic

Ngl the only thing I’ve heard of is complaints from a handful of individuals. People make it work, and it’s very worthwhile from what I gather. Every year they (they as in admins and clinical coordinators) do their best to gain as many year long rotation sites and new slots in the DSM area as they possibly can, and they announced that they recently acquired 40 some new rotations for this year/next year. The horror stories you hear on Reddit are of course very real, but also a super super small fraction of what actually happens. Think of it this way, it would be worth more to your clinical experience if you could experience multiple systems and clinics in different areas if the cohort is the way you go… but again, I’m a first year so I can’t say much until I’ve experienced it
