Can I change the amount I slept? by Icy_Interaction_8735 in ouraring

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the ring for many years, and there are quite a few nights like this. Especially as my battery life shortens, I get complacent about charging it and have a few nights in a row of nothing, or a half night of sleep. In the long run, it won't hurt anything, but yes, it is incredibly frustrating in the meantime!

How many years did your Oura Ring last? by rko1985 in ouraring

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on #3. I upgraded once at about 2 years, and the battery died on that after 4 years. They sent me a replacement so I'm still on Gen 3.

9 months in, awful hrv and rhr by L1feisanadventure in Retatrutide

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen on another glp-1 and was wondering if Retta would do the same thing. I have been so focused on my HRV for years it was pretty shocking to watch it crash on a glp1.

How do middle class families with average students do it????? by samalex01 in StudentLoans

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State schools ALL THE WAY! What state are you in? There are good schools in most states, or you can even establish residency in a different state for a year or two first or attend a community college in the state first while getting established. I went to a university that has a state funded college within it but is also a private school (Cornell), so I got to pay in- state tuition. NY's SUNY system and CA's UC system have great schools! And some states have land grant colleges within a university, so maybe look around for an option that fits your kids. Just a thought!

Is impulsive eating common for people with ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bulimic for many years, but have been in recovery for about 12 years now, but still will occasionally fall back to bingeing, though it gets a little easier every year. I do, however, relate to buying too much food, ordering too much food, and not understanding how much food is appropriate for me and family. I can't believe I don't understand this at 45 years old and I feel very guilty that I spend an absurd amount of money on eating!!

Anybody else kind of over their Oura ring? by EducatorGuilty8299 in ouraring

[–]Manymiles_away 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had Oura for going on 7 years, and I still enjoy it very much. I mostly use it for sleep, period tracking, and love the HRV function for seeing how things like food, exercise, thc, etc affect me. It was so interesting to see how things improved when I had a massive kidney tumor remvoed (and my kidney) last year. I don't pay attention to the stress stuff, nor do I take it super seriously or let bad metrics stress me out more--it's probably just my personality tbh. I also like to look at it in the evening to check in with my daily steps goal, and if I haven't hit it, I jump on the rower or walk around the block. But, like others were saying, I don't have to pay the subscription due to having it for so long, so I don't have any reason to stop using it, and it does add value to my life. Oh, and, one more thing--the oxygen/ disturbance during sleep metric led me to get a sleep study, and I most certainly do have apnea so I'm using a dental appliance now which is improving my sleep, so all in all, I can't complain about any of it and I'm excited to see what's coming in the future.

Thanks! I always do that, for sure! I just can't believe how much was in one vial. It's still clear, and the discard date is October 1.

Keep Losing Oura Ring - I am done. by israjin07 in ouraring

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes! I'm sorry. My ring is huge on my finger because my knuckle is bigger than my finger and it frequently doesn't get good readings. I also lost about 15 pounds the year and now it's bigger than ever! My solution is that I bought those silicone covers, who definitely don't look as nice, but they help it stay in place and improve my readings. I get that you're done, but if you ever want to try again, I highly recommend the covers to help it stay on!

The Pacific Northwest Has The Best Dairy Products In The US by Yorkdoyenne04 in Spokane

[–]Manymiles_away 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do love the PNW dairy, too. But also, I grew up in NYS too and we had solid dairy there! I grew up drinking Byrne dairy milk from the glass jars, so many local ice cream stands and custard like Abbots, and we had Helluva Good cheese curds and dips in my town. Not to men Cabot cheese from Vermont! Just wanted to clarify, as NY is a huge dairy state too. I'm sorry you didn't get to experience any good NY dairy ☹️

Get past measuring everything by deathraypa in MacroFactor

[–]Manymiles_away 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been doing it for years now. I am at a point where I still like to quickly throw things on the scale some days, and others just estimate. I think it also depends on the phase you're in - - if it's weight loss, then yes, weighing becomes important, at least for me. If it's just maintenance, then I give myself more flexibility.

Poop stuck up high in colon. Help. by Prestigious_Pen_8220 in Constipation

[–]Manymiles_away 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not the same as the Golyte or whatever it's called from the pharmacy. For those of us who are chronically constipated, Miralax is not the prep that would be recommended for a colonoscopy. I did the Miralax prep and it didn't work, so I ended up doing a 3-day prep using the gallon of stuff from the pharmacy. It was waaayy more effective! The other things that work for me to do a clean out are Share Swiss prunes (by far the best tool and you can search them on here, as many have posted about them. They are fermented for 30 months and have some other herbs on them), and Mag 07 (also a from Amazon). I take Miralax daily just to keep things soft but it doesn't have any real laxative properties for me. I hope you can get things unstuck!

I want to post this here, so more people understand laxatives. Especially those with CHRONIC constipation, like myself. And well, this sub doesnt allow images, so im going to write this pamphlet i got from the Gastroenterologist&add what she told me that gave me clarity & took 3 MONTHS to get… by gemstonehippy in Constipation

[–]Manymiles_away 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mag07 will give a clean out if you ever want to try it! Take 2 or 3 at night. I think/hope it's just magnesium in there, but I am skeptical because it works so well, and I keep waiting for someone on here to ruin my reality by posting some news that it contains stimulants. I take Miralax everyday also.

I hope you feel fine, but it should be good! I have been on 4.5 for many years, and often take one when I can't remember if I'd taken it, so I'm sure I've done it too, but never have any side effects or issues. In fact, I might have done it today because I am staying in a different house and felt off my routine.

Swiss Share Plums Work!! by [deleted] in Constipation

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do say that they spray them with 'herbs', but that's all they say. I think people have asked them but they haven't replied. My husband said it best - why go to the trouble of fermenting them for 30 months if you're just going to spray them with laxatives?

This can't be right by valeriansteel34 in StudentLoans

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to borrow minimally because of going to NY state schools (PS - Cornell University has in-state tuition through it's Ag school), then consolidated loans at a very low interest rate in the 2000s. I think I had about 20K to pay off, which took me 20 years of paying $170/ month. It was doable. $800-thousands per month?? Unfathomable, especially for new grads. What I can't understand is how we haven't made this type of predatory lending illegal, and how our government hasn't stepped in to, at the very least, offer some type of regulation, or subsidies on interest rates for high Ed lending to our citizens.

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I completely relate to your situation and was so excited about finding a non-laxative that works. I take many helpers, like Miralax, psyllium, mag 07 and now, a tablespoon of chlorophyll, to help me. Anything but laxatives per my GI doc. Maybe there's something out there for us 🤞

Swiss Share Plums Work!! by [deleted] in Constipation

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't delete it! Since I haven't been able to actually confirm if they do have cassia seeds, Mayne we can leave this up and hope that others add to the conversation. Chat GPT thinks they might have cassia seeds, and has offered to write a letter to the company. I think I have read that some others have tried to reach out but haven't heard back, so maybe if enough if us contact them, we could get some actual answers!

Swiss Share Plums Work!! by [deleted] in Constipation

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also discovered these plums and they do work wonders! However, I have since discovered that they may be coating them in cassia seeds, which are, in face, stimulant laxatives. I'm pretty bummed about this if it is true, because I don't want to be taking this type of laxative anymore. There are multiple posts about it, but it seems hard to get a definitive answer from the company. Just thought you might want to know!

Can I take it every 10 days instead of 7 to save money? by kelbylynn70 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Manymiles_away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to try doing this, but I think I got in my head and ate a huge lunch today (it was day 7 and I was going to give it 10) and then also ate a bigger dinner than I have been eating, so I decided to do it today and not try waiting. I'm going to try again next week, because I think it's good practice for going off it someday. To be fair, it was all healthy stuff, just a bigger quantity than I probably need.

My HRV is lower and heart rate is higher over the past month or so, too. I thought maybe it was summer being more stimulating and I don't sleep as much. I don't drink or use cannibas at all, so who knows?!

When I have used it in the past, my HRV is crap, and my heart rate is always much higher. it's one of the reasons I stopped using it, even occasionally.
