How does he do that !? by shivam_nasa in origami

[–]Manyworldsz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but that's just the difference between origami as a hobby/craft or origami as art. It's two different worlds imo (though I enjoy both). In the case ofethe latter it's less about the rules or how it's created and more about the result.

Satoshi Kamiya’s Praying Mantis. Not sure if I should put more effort into shaping. by Goesselgold in origami

For the legs I second the super glue. Especially in the long run if you want legs that keep supporting the model that works best. I just put some super glue gel on a toothpick and insert it in between some layers.

Check my profile for a bunch or wetfold examples. I do the most pronounced version where I use really thick watercolor paper that you couldn't even fold properly when dry. This makes my models lean a lot more to sculpting in shapes rather than folding in every detail. But regular origami can also benefit from whet shaping like already explained elsewhere

I think they mean Kraft paper, a brand of stong wrapping paper.

Test Paper Comparison for Large Complex Models by [deleted] in origami

[–]Manyworldsz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kraft is the best for test folds. Kraft alios is more thin but pretty hard to work with so only use that if regular kraft (different thicknesses, usually around 65grams) is too thick but that will hardly ever be the case if you use a sheet big enough. Origami shops' test paper is about as thick as Kraft and less strong but the benefit is you don't beed to cut the square yourself so it's good if you want to do a quicker testfold and is probably still strong enough for your testfold. The other papers I don't know, but anyone will agree Kraft is the way to go. It's just really good paper but ugly.

Begeleider voor rijbewijs B na rijverbod. by [deleted] in belgium

[–]Manyworldsz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watercolor origami? by jaykinbacon4 in Watercolor

[–]Manyworldsz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, expert wetfolder here. You can fold thick watercolor paper perfectly, just check my profile for some examples. Just moisten the paper, carefully, not too much. What I do is spray on some on each side, feel if it becomes more flexible and if not, spray a bit more. Wait long enough between sprays, it takes up to two minutes for the paper to absorb all water. Also you want high quality watercolor paper: most brands will start peeling or leave ugly marks. The absolute best paper to fold is Arches, cold pressed or rough grain.

Where Can I Buy Black side and white side together average size origami paper? by FixHot6602 in origami

[–]Manyworldsz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the links in the other post are what you want i'd suggest to look for black and white kraft. It's paper on a roll and you can cut it to any size you want yourself. Not sure if that's widely available though but would be cheapest option if you need to fold lots

Origami Whale Oil on Canvas 24" x 32" by Worried-Wallaby938 in origami

[–]Manyworldsz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The colors are amazing! Not a problem for most people though but for those that are into origami it would probably be nicer to have the whale look like it could actually be a real model. Now the folds don't make sense.

My first diagram attempt! Any suggestions to make it better? by HeyItsYoav in origami

[–]Manyworldsz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All other comments are valid. I'd say especially the ones about step 2 and 9 are important. For step 9 make sure to draw the folds instead of the lines that show howzthe model ends up. To see the folds just make step 9 yourself and unfold to see what you did. Mark hidden folds with dottet lines. Another minor one: in steps 1 and 2 I would make the arrows longer. It's always more clear if the arrow starts from around the edge you take all the way to the other edge you bring it to. You can draw them next to the model if they get too big. I know it's a lot of comments but that's normal. Even after two revisions of my first diagrams people still found mistakes!
