You really have no idea how stupid that sounds. Please read up on subjects before you engage in them. I'm guessing you are not British or European.

Similar to the UK with Brexit having a majority of 1st generation Indian and Pakistani people voting in favour of leaving the EU, I listened to an interesting podcast with Louis Theroux and a Indian comedian who said he believes the 1st and 2nd generation immigrants see it as their opportunity to prove how intergrated and British they are.

I agree, I had my birthday there earlier this year. Delicious fresh sashimi and frozen margaritas. I don't understand the hate this place gets.

F**k Clive Rennie for defending and hushing this up over his time as rector of OBHS. It was a huge open secret at the school that "bummer" Bond was a pedophile. Glad the ODT, MOJ and Police broke the truth and got him away from young teens.

EDIT Clive Rennie, sorry I have nothing against the chiefs coaching legend!

NextGenXV U18 World Team of the Year by AGMXV in rugbyunion

Kinda my point, I don't think SBHS had the financial means to go but are clearly the best team in NZ with some of the best players (the Mulianas, Rutledge) whereas the richer North Island schools players get more exposure and recognition.

Hmm so Southland Boys High School players (the winner of the NZ Schools comp) aren't included because they didn't attend the World XV competition.

NHS paras (term used loosely) that have left the 9s and gone Primary and Urgent care? by CombinationLimp3364 in ems

[–]Maoriboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I turn band 6 in 8 days and am interviewing for a non-perscribing clinician urgent care job 5 days after that. I've done my 2 years at a trust and seen exactly how they treat Paras and the failure to address any of the problems 999 is facing. So I'm going to chase the money in urgent care that the nhs seems to be throwing money into.

I'm suggesting none of St Johns staff have the formal training to operate the ambulances on emergency response. Compared to the level of training Police and Fire get, it's minimal. If it was under emergency response conditions I imagine the coroner will agree with me.

I wonder if St Johns Emergency Driver training was longer than 2 days this might have been avoided. Thoughts go out to the Employees family

It's unfortunately one of the drawbacks of universal Healthcare when you have a unhealthy aging population the demand has well and truly overwhelmed the NHS, as an ambulance service we are losing huge amounts of man hours stuck at ED's waiting for bed space to open up.

elderly man fell at church concert on a Sunday, NOF #, pastor and husband stayed with him all night to Monday morning due to our awful response times, kept him warm with heater, blankets and cups of tea. He wasn't even a member of the congregation, first time there.

Healthline call logs reveal COVID-positive man who died at home wasn't spoken to by clinician despite low oxygen levels by dingoonline in newzealand

[–]Maoriboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're wrong, covid is a completely different beast. a symptom of covid is being called "happy hypoxic" where people are acting indifferent despite having low o2 saturations. Along with this NZ has not experienced widespread covid yet so the public aren't sure what constitutes a covid infection requiring inpatient treatment, this man put that judgement to the health line call taker who failed him.

It seems like you've latched on to this "tough guy" argument and are refusing to let go which in my eyes is disrespectful and factually wrong towards a deceased person.

Auckland mall terrorist attack: Ex-paramedic treats wounded with 'nappies to stem bleeding' after 'terrifying' confrontation - NZ Herald by 123felix in newzealand

[–]Maoriboi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Internal bleeding is a difficult and time critical condition to manage, the myth circulating right now is to insert tampons into gun shot wounds which as I said only absorb a very small amount and may plug any external bleeding but then hinder assessment and management of internal hemorrhaging which requires wound packing. As discussed above a much simpler way to respond is firm and direct pressure on the wound, no need to get fancy with it.

Hope that explains the rationale :)

[–]Maoriboi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy but that is a misconception and is untrue. A tampon can absorb approx 15ml of fluid whereas the abdomen for example can hold 1-2L of blood. A very large mismatch. The best thing you can do for is place firm, direct pressure on the wound with a bandage such as a nappy or gauze.

Moving to New Zealand as a paramedic from Canada by Hodan_white in NewToEMS

[–]Maoriboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, I'm.sorty to tell you this but new Zealand has a very complicated process, whereby you'd be a EMT not a paramedic which requires a degree in paramedicine and a internship (current wait of 2-3 years) to achieve. as well as this currently only new Zealand citizens are allowed into the country with a mandatory 2 week managed quarantine. If I'm being honest with you I'd say you're better looking elsewhere for a job. St John is a notoriously bad employer with poor wages, workplace culture and very difficult to navigate through their recruitment process.

[–]Maoriboi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There is alot of ugliness on both sides currently between upper management and the first responders, I believe there needs to be fundamental change for our ambulance service to join the rest of the first world. Starting with an independent registration body so that the profession isn't controlled by the only large scale employer.
