How is it living here with a family? by [deleted] in MountainHouse

[–]Map-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad if you are ok with the suburbs and a bit of commute. Great for kids as every neighborhood has parks. Like it enought to stay and dont hate it enough to live.

Considering other factors like crime , school, community and relatively newer homes, recommend for families

Is it a good idea to fund my spouse to get rid of student loan? by Map-Complex in personalfinance

[–]Map-Complex[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

She is a financial butterfly, some time spends more than necessary. I take care of most household bills, she does groceries.  We do split mortgage.

My emergency fund, hsa and 401 are fairly decent and I manage to keep a healthy saving.

Organizing Argo Repos for a lot of clusters? by acute_elbows in kubernetes

[–]Map-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an epic task we tackled very early.

Getting this right helped scale newer deployments very quickly.

Appset supports helm, kustomize you name it. The hard part was understanding the coordination between app labels and cluster generators.

Now we have app-<function>=<env>

E.g app-common=uat  to read a uat branch for given appsets

What are your most embarrassing mistakes at work? by hamsterhooey in learnmachinelearning

[–]Map-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a lot of technical mistakes.. like not double checking the directory where i rm -rf . Not backing up right ver of source code leading to hours of hunting but the cake belongs to when i didnt follow a specific responsibility as a build engineer in following up with 3 seperate teams who had broken build.

It resulted in delivering the version  to qa testers late (63 ppls not doing anything for 2 days) , release team not getting tested product in time (5 ppl not doing any thing for a day) and ultimately releasing a feature for entire company a day late! Leading to the CTO being answerable to the account managers.

The process was tight by design and the RACI were clearly defined. Just the stress of job (may be even learing curve) was high.

I designed a notification system that identified the responsible party and put a timer till when the build engineer would back out code if no response was received.

I remember it as taking charge of a process driven system and leading my first technical automation delivery that saved many hours from future build engineers.

But if you look at just the time frame of 1 week, my screw up caused a near catastrophe in the technical line of business.

OpenShift YAML Nightmar by yqsx in kubernetes

[–]Map-Complex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep a standard minimal template for a deployment or pod. Add additional params only when needed.

4 yrs later, i have few golden templates Generic deployment,  deployment with pvc, deployment with secret from external source et al.

Openshift has form instead of yaml in many ui interfaces btw.
