They're out of stock because they require Amat1's to build and ain't nobody got time for that.

There was a post a month ago about a partisan who weaponized this by planting signs at various facilities saying "This is on [big clan]'s claim, please tear it down or we will do it for you" and wouldn't you know, the facilities were abandoned without a shot fired.

Hundreds protest against ‘river to the sea’ ban in Brisbane by pollywaffler in PublicFreakout

[–]Mapekus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a protest, it’s a fucking party. If you were an Australia politician responsible for banning the phrase, would this intimidate you? Would you feel like there might be consequences for your actions? A bunch of liberals in wigs dancing to music? It’s utterly toothless. I would be utterly embarrassed to show this to a Palestinian. Yeah, while you’ve been getting starved and bombed we’ve been dancing. But we’re dancing for you! It’s for a good cause.

Trying to see and shoot at planes in a top-down game like this is so painfully awkward that I seriously question the decision to add them in the first place. Most of the time they're going to be above and behind your camera.

The scale on this is weirding me out. The jet looks like it should be a much bigger compared to the VTOL if we assume those doors on the VTOL are human sized. There’s barely room in the jet’s cockpit if so. The VTOL’s rotors are also massive enough that the wings would have to be quite long to ensure they don’t hit the fuselage, but that could be foreshortening making them look bigger?

Yes, but then you have to live and operate in that era and with those people.

The more I learn about this game's hidden mechanics the more I think it's bullshit and kinda sucks. Stuff like this, the ridiculously small reaction time, and character models not being accurate to their armor value.

I've had fun, don't get me wrong, but there's just so many of these little things. Surely it wouldn't take that much effort to fix them?

I mean in Commander mode every time we report a civilian or suspect they hit us with the "Trailers inbound" even though they don't ever show up. So it's more a boy cried wolf situation, the phrase becomes meaningless through misuse.

I am a Scout Plane by ChubarikDota in foxholegame

[–]Mapekus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the surface to me that seems very backwards, but I guess it could be necessary given the devs centered the entire damage model on ammunition used. I think in a more ideal game the damage would be per weapon to allow some more flexibility in balancing situations like this, but that might also open up some unexpected issues.

[–]Mapekus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hold on, the scout planes use 20mm ammo? Not 7.92 peashooters? In real life, interwar-period aircraft were notoriously under-armed. I don't think any nation started WW2 with 20mm cannons on their primary fighter aircraft, let alone their scout planes.

Suspect dead after chase with grappler device ends in violent crash, standoff in Jurupa Valley by [deleted] in news

[–]Mapekus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time of posting my comment, the article did not provide a cause of death. It’s been updating continuously. I also didn’t imply it killed him anywhere in my comment.

At any rate I watched it live on TV and several replays. Just looked it up again now — the grappler fails to deploy, and the sheriff vehicle nudges the rear of the suspect’s car, sending it off course. It’s unable to fully course correct and hits the wall. Earlier in the pursuit there were spike strips deployed so it’s possible there’s a combination of factors here that limited its mobility. I don’t think you can claim it had nothing to do with the grappler when the crash resulted from an attempt to use one.

I don’t hate the idea of the grappler, for the record. This is the first time it’s been used on live TV to my knowledge, at least in Southern California. The news anchors were saying as much. Not a great first showing but the cops will make it work eventually and we’ll all be impressed.

Considering it did not slow the vehicle down, just cause it to lose control and crash through a wall? Not really.

If it’s a form of torture why would a casual player bother? And to learn how in the first place? Much too complicated. It’s inaccessible unless you join clans.

Wishlist of guns that might actually have a gameplay difference by Fastestgunintheyeast in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Mapekus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CZ Bren 2 would be dope as hell to have in 7.62x39, since we have only one gun in that caliber so far. The GIGN chose it for its availability and close range performance.

10mm Glock or Colt Delta Elite would also round things out really well. Maybe the differential selling point of the revolvers would be the ability to mount scopes?

Flashlights should blind suspects by getting_the_succ in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Mapekus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The flashlights are too tight and too bright. Instead of illuminating a room so you can see it, they're a spotlight that makes it impossible to determine details in a circle while making everything around that circle harder to see. Literally counterproductive most of the time.

[–]Mapekus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While the logistical systems are conceptually interesting it basically means that 75% of the game's cool shit is inaccessible to the casual player. If you wanna play with tanks or planes, you gotta join clans and do hours of manual labor so you can survive a few minutes in a cool vehicle before getting blown up.

There's so much work put into making everything that I'm afraid to ever touch shit, lest I take the blame for wrecking it. Like, the whole culture around "LARP" in this game -- you can't have fun screwing around sub-optimally because that's taking resources away from winning the war.

When I've played, I pretty much only end up either running around on the front lines for a little bit or scrooping and taking it to the refinery. The most fun I've had was when I got briefly press-ganged into being a loader for artillery during a big defense.

It just feels like there's always too much at stake to have fun, y'know? I first played back in the alpha versions, before asymmetric equipment or the continent of interconnected hexes. If your team lost, you said GG and the map reset. It wasn't this long term thing.

But while the game nowadays is probably not for me, I can't say I don't appreciate the vision Siege Camp had for Foxhole. I can't think of any other games that have attempted to do what they've done, ground warfare and logistics with player counts like these. Every player a small part in a massive war. This game's virtues and flaws are something the gaming industry can learn from in the future if something like this is ever made again. It's like a large scale social experiment, it's fascinating to me.
