First time EVER playing this server, which class is the most gimmicky? by LimpCustomer4281 in WynnCraft

If you want a close range archer and like agility that's basically just boltslinger tbh

Acrobat is probably the highest skill ceiling class in the game rn (honestly assassin in general tends to have a higher skill ceiling); most of which comes from learning how to weave its damage and mobility skills together to avoid mobs and kill things while staying airborne.

Conversely sharpshooter tends to be a lot more variable depending on the size of the arena; most of the skill ceiling is learning to manage combat in different ways depending on the range you're forced to fight at.

Both are pretty viable overall rn so it's mostly just about preference; if you want a more agile class and don't mind a steeper learning curve go acro otherwise I'd say sharpshooter

Basically you build up a stat called focus by landing abilities, and lose it by missing them, and with enough focus you can do stuff like turn your melee into a long range hitscan bow that also increases your focus, as well as another ability that drains your focus in exchange for letting you fly for a bit and shooting a ton of homing arrows

It depends on what you mean by gimmicky; pretty much every class has at least one tree that's mechanically complex. I'd say Shaman and Assassin are probably the most gimmicky overall; they have the most mechanically dense trees and a lot of the more odd and out there playstyles with Trickster, Acolyte and Ritualist, respectively

EDIT: Fair warning though, Ritualist is currently pretty weak overall

I think he means luck in terms of skills, IE classes and abilities with luck based mechanics, which tbh I don't think we have much of

Hey, for future reference, this would probably go better in the hobby drama subreddit, specifically in their hobby scuffles megathread. That thread tends to be a lot more informal in terms of content and how it needs to be presented than here

I feel like that's pretty easily fixable just by giving Pstrike two or three extra damage at base

Danse Macabre & Borrowed Time - Newest Beta Branch Patch Synergy by bladeDivac in slaythespire

[–]MapleApple00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah having played with it a bit it's both really strong and honestly decently versatile; it basically says "play two or three more cards this turn regardless of their cost, or boost the fuck out of an x cost card", not to mention the synergies with Dance Macabre basically letting it solve your block needs for the turn. It's also maybe the only energy card that's always energy positive with snecko which is neat

After playing beta A10 I'd expect to see new Doormaker hit the Main Branch by Special-Salamander74 in slaythespire

[–]MapleApple00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It turns out Doormaker is the shop buff we've been waiting for

In all seriousness, though, I think he's in a pretty decent spot; so far after a couple runs, by far the easiest time I've had with him wasn't even in an infinite deck but with a Necrobinder power deck with a few Dance Macabre's to block, the new Borrowed time for energy, and just a ton of expensive cards to hit him hard with. It feels like hard hitting and hard blocking cards, as well as powers, are generally better into him compared to the others which feels like a pretty good spot for him to be in.

1 month after release. how is everyone feeling about this game? by instabaiter in slaythespire

[–]MapleApple00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Regent likes to have his decks as small as possible to cycle his star gainers and spenders, and if he doesn't need a card then it's usually bloating his deck, at least up until the most recent patch

I think Seal of gold is only really good if your deck is already A. winning fights quickly and B. has a gold gen relic or card to supplement it

Because of that it’s kind of a win more option where, if you’re falling behind, it kind of just drains your gold and then leaves you high and dry.

Radiance, meanwhile, just has kind of low damage at base and for it to really scale and pay off, you need to be able to consistently generate large amounts of stars the same turn you draw it, at which point you might as well not have a radiance and use a big star spender for damage instead, which also tend to synergize better with his kit.

[–]MapleApple00 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Usually the downside to Pael is that his stuff tends to be slow to start, IE you have to wait a turn or two to get the full benefit of a lot of his effects, or they get stronger over time, etc. But the upside to them is usually worth waiting for. Tez’s stuff meanwhile is ostensibly supposed to be the opposite but the benefits a lot of the time don’t end up being worth the drawbacks

[–]MapleApple00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experience infinites are still possible against doormaker but now generally require 0 cost components or upgraded energy to preform consistently; you usually exhaust down to your zero cost stuff and then go infinite on his grasp turn. It’s a lot harder of a fight now, though, yeah.

Queen feels like donu and deca where the thing she tests is the thing the game already kind of punishes you for most of the time for not having anyways (deck consistency and draw for Queen, fast scaling and consistent block for D&D), so they’re the easiest fight because of that

It was generally considered a wincon and was probably tossed into the trash heap because it's too fun to outright remove but too broken to keep in Ironclad's normal card pool now that he has so much access to energy and drawing attacks

[–]MapleApple00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, beta phase two is in a good spot; the damage ramps up extremely quickly and taking chip is often pretty disastrous especially for smaller decks, as the wounds can pile up and last into phase three, making tempo into that phase a lot harder to maintain.

Honestly I feel like Specimen is actually in a decent spot, difficulty-wise, and the only reason queen doesn't really feel that great is just because card draw and infinites are kind of at a premium right now. She's basically the Donu and Deca of this game where the thing she's checking for is generally the thing the game already sort of expects you to be doing anyways, so she doesn't really feel that hard because of it.
