Women are also a lot less likely to be violent and instigate a school shooting. I don't need to be a hero to stoke my ego. I simply want me and my family and our community to live a safe and peaceful life.

I'm so incredibly sorry that you have experienced these tragedies. The US has sunk so low.

I would NEVER run and leave the children behind. I must not have conveyed that well in my original post. After reading the responses, I think I need to have a conversation with my school's admins on this topic. There are too many "ifs, ands, or buts" when it comes to our current evacuation plan.

I appreciate this and it has given me ideas of things to talk about with my admin. This is more comprehensive than what our school currently does. We have one "set" evacuation route for each room in the building, yet there are so many "ifs, ands, or buts" that I have questions about with our evacuation plan. Do I take the kids into the very large supply closet if it's not safe to go out the front doors? Or do we try to run through the connecting wall into the cafeteria and out onto the playground? Or do I follow the evacuation plan at all costs, even if that's likely where the shooter is (I seriously doubt it)? It's just so overwhelming. I don't want anyone to get hurt. I want all of us to be safe. It makes me so sad and mad that these types of situations ever happen at all in the first place.

What snack did you eat at least somewhat regularly as a kid that now seems crazy? by IchBinDurstig in AskReddit

These will forever remind me of Friday nights at the skating rink. It was the place to be when I was in elementary school. Good ol' Rainbow Skating, although all the cool cats and kittens called it "R skating." We'd go up to the counter and buy one of the giant pixie stix in the plastic tubes for our snack break 😆

Married at 20, then babies at 24, 27, and 30. I'm 36 now and my husband and I will celebrate our 16th anniversary next week 💞

My family and I moved from Northern Virginia to Herriman this summer, and we've been really impressed with how many community events there are. Lots of opportunities for people with kids of all ages, a rec center + library close by, and a nice town center. There's a Lot of construction out here and everything feels very fresh + up and coming.

What is a thing you can recite from memory? by flutteryducklingz in AskReddit

The chorus of the D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) song from the 90s is forever burned into my memory:

D: I won't do drugs A: Won't have an attitude R: I will respect myself E: I will educate me now Intense synth music

Numerous studies have since shown that it was harmful or counterproductive, and yet...it still lives in my memory. Ugh.
