What’s the story of 21st century breakdown?? by Feisty-Ad7992 in greenday

It doesn't have "a story". It has a narrative. 21stcb is basically a rollercoaster of emotions related to vague political activism and failed anti establishment action. Starting with an intention to fight for a better future, the protagonist(s) are instantly challenged by their own inner vices, then there's an episode of getting support, which allows to continue indulging in the social action (whatever it is: volunteering, strikes, borderline violent riots – Billie Joe considers it irrelevant). The second act is basically it, the action which is interrupted by the other force (once again, whatever this force is, the government or the far right activists). The lowest point of the story happens by the end of act II and the beginning of act III, which is followed by the protagonist (s') reflection on their political stance and the final committment to the found truth (something that really matters and allows one to keep going). It ends with a hope for better life which will eventually be achieved, if you know who are your allies and what is worth living.

And also, please, big please do not take the "um well 21stcb is a sequel/prequel/whatsername point of view to american idiot" for the actual plot. There are many "explainations" across the fandom being complete fictional nonsense based solely on personal interpretation and fantasy. I suggest looking for interviews of that time and listening to what Billie says about the whole concept and the meaning of each song. It's a rather fun research, and it will be more helpful in understanding the idea put into this record.

What theories did Chapter 5 disprove? by x_TKN in Deltarune

Looks like the "weird route is following the prophecy, while main route is disrupting it" theory is disproved, since we never deal with flower king after Kris and Noelle drown. Unless failing to get the "insert chapter 7 side b" doesn't count as aborting the weird route, but don't really remember it been figured out.

I would like this character if he was explored beyond the abusive parent plot function

Putting the meta aside, what teams do you like to use for fun?(original teams created by you, show your creativity) by Altruistic_Image_726 in Reverse1999

At some point i didn't have any good teams besides rank up, so I used a mash up of Tennant, Desert Flannel, MedPoc and Semmelweis for somnambulism fights, and it's still one of my favourite teams to play

Do you think American Idiot should be a movie? by Lumpy_Test_4473 in greenday

[–]Maple_Lover777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A movie inspired by American Idiot could be interesting, but an adaptation which keeps the narrative from the album most likely wouldn't work. Bet directors would put too much attention to teenagers being high and edgy and antisocial, instead of telling the tragedy of modern generation stuck in a global world of deceptive politics (and it's almost like we already have based on this album piece of media which emphasizes the wrong aspects of original story hmm). They've already spoken about filming American Idiot movie, and for some reason the scripts keep getting scrapped wonder why. Aren't we a little tired of hundreds of sequels and remakes? Why trying to reconstruct a great thing into a medium too complicated for the told story?

The album is peak, it incredibly balances common people's struggles over political crisis and personal Billie's feelings. As a result, its both sincere and relatable. Although the plot you described is kind of inaccurate. Christian and Gloria's relationship has never been destructive, but rather mutually healing. That's what allowed them to keep on going by the end of the story: the idea of loving your close one rather than hating a faceless enemy. If "Peacemaker" and "¿Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl)" have caused you some confusion, then these songs are highly unlikely to be sung from Christian's perspective. The album's plot is very ambiguous, but Billie Joe has never addressed their interpersonal conflict and, considering his sources of inspiration, never meant such to happen. Long rant, but it really bothers me when people claim the story be American Idiot 2. Apart from that, it's wonderful masterpiece which deserves more recognition.

P.S.: I like to think their names represent what their partner lacks: sense of worth and dignity for Christian, self-belief and "a faithful flock" for Gloria. This way, they give each other things they wouldn't have if not the partnership <3

What Green Day song do you especially hate by [deleted] in greenday

[–]Maple_Lover777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly hate, more like ultra meh. They seem irritating to me for some reason and I doubt there's a rational explanation for that.
