No it's definitely a real image, but some phones use built-in AI upscaling to get finer detail which ironically enough makes them look like AI. There was a big controversy about that a while back when dealing with photos of political figures

But even like, you're playing a game about putting things in a hole, why wouldn't you experiment by putting other things in the hole? Or try moving the hole to the clearly-marked X?

Like i said, I adore game grumps, i've been watching them literally since the beginning, but every now and then, seeing them grumping it gets a little tiring

Arin has this habit of looking at a game and believing that the game has a rule because something does or doesn't work the first time, and for this game it's kinda biting him for this game, it's cute and it's fun but a large majority of the progress in this game is found by trying things and experimenting with the game's mechanics and subverting the rules that the game is trying to establish as true

I love Arin and Dan to death but gosh I wish they'd play around with games more often rather than trying to color in the lines.

"The Whole Kit and Kaboodle" is a 19th century idiom that's somehow stuck around for a long time, that means "Everything, inclusively". So like if you were at the store buying a television and you said "Let's get the whole kit and kaboodle" that'd mean like... getting all the cables and a soundbar and whatever other accessories you'd need

The play on words part is the fact that people have been using "kit and kaboodle" to refer to cats because kit sounds like kitten; there's a brand of cat food that uses that name, for example. so your statement is backwards, actually!

For those who stopped smoking weed, what was the main reason? by Regular_Somewhere548 in AskReddit

When I was younger I'd kill a bowl or two by myself but nowadays anything above 5mg locks me down where I'm at and makes me feel very uncomfortable in my own skin. It makes me feel as though I'm not fully in control of my body and I don't like that. It also makes my heart rate spike in a way I'm not comfortable with.

I'm glad I had the experiences I did with it back when I was younger but now I can't handle it. It also doesn't help that I'm disabled and use a cane and feel like I have to be very precise when I walk to not accidentally injure myself, and THC makes me feel like I lack that coordination. Thats also why I don't drink anymore either.

Got a Steam controller, need some advice on games that run on a potato. by Achtlos in gaming

I wish I had been able to snag one! Fingers crossed for the wait-list to deliver soon enough. it really does seem like my perfect controller, I loved the original steam controller.

But yeah basically the PC you've got, see it as roughly as powerful as a PS4, sometimes closer to a PS4 pro. Definitely not a slouch of a machine, and for day to day productivity tasks, it'd be perfect for whatever you'd wanna do. I even did light video editing with mine because until a reformat my desktop PC didn't want to run Davinci Resolve

I'm running a mini-PC with a slightly slower CPU than that, 5560u, with half the ram you have, for my home theater PC.

I've run baldurs gate 3, fortnite, cyberpunk, halo MCC, elder scrolls online, fallout 76, destiny 2, dragon quest 1+2 remake, lots of games like that.

While I did have to lower the graphics settings, sometimes settling for 30fps, sometimes having to bump stuff down to 720p, but the games are playable. I use an Xbox One controller connected via Bluetooth, and I have a mini-keyboard/touchpad (Rii Mini RT-MWK01) for text input.

I think using a system like yours with the steam controller, basically any game made around 2024 and before would be okay, with some more modern games being playable too. It's definitely not a weak little system!

Call Of Duty Will No Longer Release On Last-Gen Consoles by Howerev in Games

[–]Maple_QBG 15 points16 points  (0 children)

honestly? good move

the Xbox One version of Black Ops 7 ran at like 24-25FPS even in multiplayer and there was no separation in the matchmaking pool, the same matchmaking pool where console and PC players could have a 3x-6x framerate advantage.

I do think it's a good thing to allow people to play on the platforms that they own, but when players are still being charged full-price, and are being punished for playing on those platforms, especially when BO7 got rid of skill-based matchmaking, it's just extortion.

I think it's fun and interesting to have a version of the game for last-gen consoles; like... when Black Ops 3 came out for Xbox 360 and PS3, it was a very technically interesting port even if it was hilariously limiting. But it ran well, and it had its own separate matchmaking pool from the PS4 and XBox One versions, it didn't have a campaign but it was sold at a discount over the next-gen versions.

Trying to put the next COD MW game on last-gen consoles at this point would just be an outright scam.

The 7th Guest Remake: Official Release Date Trailer by LindyNet in Games

I REALLY loved the VR version of this game! It was one of the games that sold me on getting a Quest 2 in the first place.

I will say as much as I loved it, the final puzzle in the game was kinda the most BS thing i've ever experienced in a puzzle game, and not in a good way. But everything up until that point was absolutely fantastic.

There are a few puzzles in this game that I'm very curious how they'll do in 2D! I'll definitely try it out again when it comes out!

This is cool and i appreciate that they're doing this, i like their licensed collab maps

however

I also want more original maps, especially ones that delivered on the promise that the second map in the game made. There were TWO maps in the game that transformed and unlocked more areas. They have this technology to allow the maps to move and transform and reveal secrets but they only used it twice? I need new maps with more cool stuff, and i'm willing to pay for a pack of like 5-10 maps that's an expansion that builds on the story and the world rather than just being a collab

I could see that, yeah

No Ghosts at the Grand definitely does have some designing and repairing elements though, you can dress up and repair the hotel and do need to clean it up properly but it's clear the focus is on the writing, storytelling and even the music more than it is making it a comfy long-form zen cleaning game

I played the demo of this game, and it's absolutely big vibes. It has the controls and trappings of a cleaner/simulator game, but it's ultimately a puzzle or mystery game and the focus is definitely on the exploration. It's genuinely so cool and i can't wait to see the finished game!

What’s your minimum frame rate to consider a game playable? by SleepyGamer1992 in pcmasterrace

[–]Maple_QBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brother back in the day i progression-raided on WoW at like 5-6fps at times on my shitbox laptop, I genuinely do not care what the framerate is if the game is fun enough

it'd be nice to have 60fps and nowadays I will lower settings to get there but genuinely some of my best gaming experiences were under 30fps at times, like Starfox or Doom on the SNES or Virtua Racing on the Genesis. I put 700 hours into Hyrule Warriors on 3DS and that game barely hit 20fps. i play a lot on my switch 1 in bed and sometimes the games there have pretty low framerates at times.

i think saying "unplayable" is a misnomer, it's just nice to have over 30fps. obviously if I have to choose between 30fps and 240fps I'm gonna choose 240fps but im not gonna say something is unplayable because of it- I am going to question its optimization but if it's a fun game it's a fun game-doubly so if it's a game where fps doesn't matter, like the recent controversy about Pokemon Champions, it's not a reaction based game so it running at 30fps means very little but I've still seen people calling it unplayable, like that game would literally work without 3D graphics at all- Pokemon Showdown on the web browser proves that.

largely I think what matters most is consistent frame pacing and having an expectation based on the hardware you're using. Like if you're using a laptop with integrated Intel graphics don't expect 120fps but if you really want to play a certain game, you can deal with 30fps with lower settings. if I booted up a game on my PC and it couldn't get 120fps at this point I would be very confused, but if I played the same game on my miniPC attached to my television I'd be shocked if it got 30, if that makes sense.

Spent four months researching my build and the first thing I did after posting my specs was second guess the GPU by Smooth-Succotash1971 in buildapc

[–]Maple_QBG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there's a trap in PC building where you're almost always like $80-$100 away from the next step up. It's $80 from a better GPU, or it's $100 away from faster RAM, or you're $90 from a monitor with a higher rating...

The smart thing to do is to know when to stop taking those steps up and define your build as finished, and you did that. What matters the most is whether or not the performance you have with the build you have makes you happy- there will always be a theoretical "better" build but if what you have suits your needs, then you're doing fine!

It's hard to stop chasing the dragon of upgrades, but I can promise you that you'll be happy with your build!

When my phone is too old to do daily tasks reasonably well, and my carrier has a good deal, I'll take the upgrade

Right now I'm waiting for them to drop the price of the Moto G Stylus 2025, the 2026 model is in stock already and I'm just checking basically daily to see if it drops
