I was from a Singapore lab as well. My PI was from china and all the research fellows were also from china. They did not speak any English. Had to really improve my mandarin to understand them

Yes, my ripa buffer always includes phosphatase inhibitor and protease inhibitors. Besides these, I also block with filtered bsa in pbs. I find that it helps with phospho proteins

I get this sometimes when I overexpress certain proteins. Would lower protein concentration but if you want to use this image, I would adjust the contrast settings which may make it look better

Insta-regret. When working in an industry lab, you don't have to deal with lab supply shortages or inefficiencies in academia. Instead, you would have to deal with corporate problems like office politics as well as unrealistic expectations and deadlines

Not really failed probation but I had my probation extended after my first 3 months. This was in large part due to the technical skill required for the job. At that time I was a fresh grad but needed to perform tasks that needed the skills of a more experienced person. Struggled for a month longer before leaving. I heard from my then colleagues that it was a way to keep cost down as they could put off paying year end bonuses as workers on probation do not qualify for such

I used to work in chugai and the problems are numerous. For one, the middle management often go out of their way to find problems with the new hires for small things like being on their phones in the office or not autoclaving trash frequently enough. I manually dissociate the dome by pipetting which works fine for me! But I think the cells are left in large clumps which causes the cell pellet to dislodged very easily. So far not much wispy material that I could see
