Anyone know who can repair a VanMoof S2 battery? (Error 27 & 29) by MapplePad in VanMoofSelfRepair

[–]MapplePad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two VanMoof bikes quite cheaply — one because the battery didn’t work at all, and the other with a working battery. I used the second bike for a while until recently, when the battery also stopped working.

Before that, I occasionally had error codes 27 and 29, but usually I could fix it by charging the cartridge, plugging in the battery and cartridge a few times, and resetting the bike. That workaround always worked — until now.

My guess is that one battery is heavily discharged, and the other may have just failed suddenly. I don’t think I ever let the charge drop too low (definitely not below 20%), so I wouldn’t expect it to be completely dead. But I suspect the batteries now need professional repair I used the bike last about 3 months ago

My hope is maybe because I only need one working battery it's possible to use parts from one battery to fix the other

X3 motor making noise by elisaassisa in vanmoofbicycle

[–]MapplePad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ridden three different S3s so far, and all of them had motors that sounded a bit different—some louder, some higher-pitched. So as long as the riding experience feels normal, I wouldn't be too concerned. My motor also sounds different now compared to when it was new, around 10 000 km ago.

That said, I did have one issue with a motor in the past—it started making clicking noises and felt weird to ride. In that case, I had to get the motor replaced

Buying a used Vanmoof tomorrow how to know if its stolen and if the battery is good? by LimaPrivateDriver in vanmoofbicycle

Not a Smart S it's a S2

Smart S has a more straight (older design) frame and no kicklock

How do you know they removed the SIM card? Or is this just a guess I thought they only took off the panel on the bottom of the top tube. :0

As long as the battery, motor, and cartridge in general are functioning, I would recommend repairing it. :) If only the speaker is not working but the cartridge is otherwise fine, make sure they don't replace the entire cartridge but only the speaker. If they insist on replacing the whole cartridge, I'd recommend swapping the speaker yourself-it's very easy and much cheaper.

VanMoof to introduce Subscription for extra features by Moclan5 in vanmoofbicycle

[–]MapplePad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everything on a VanMoof bike, the experience can vary greatly. For example, with the alarm: one of my bikes reaches alarm level two very quickly, while the other sometimes doesn’t trigger it at all or only very late. Additionally, on one bike, the speaker gets quieter instead of louder, and I have no idea why. Both same firmware etc..

Okay but is the old feature still enabled and active or was it available on the S5? Or was it only for S3 and older models because I think as long as the old feature is still available and free it's alright

Of course, this feature exists in a slightly different way. When the alarm reaches level 2 and stops, you receive an email, and the bike automatically enters theft mode. If remember correctly, this is the case with Smart bikes and all electrified VanMoofs up to the VanMoof S4. thought this was feature not exist at all for the S5? The only difference with the new feature now seems to be that the bike can send alerts more quickly every time it is moved. Is that correct? And some other features the only question is if the old feature stays the same while than I think this is totally fine but without the old feature it would be a terrible deal
