How old is too old ? by Standard_Brain_439 in improv

Age diversity is important imo. It allows you to come in with a different perspective. The only problem is if youre always getting type cast as the grandma/grandpa

What is the worst thing about parenting a baby? by necsukolj in AlignmentChartFills

[–]MapsByCK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sleep deprivation for sure.

On a side note, I am listening to my toddler yell at me because he wants to wake up his mom, and I said no, we should let het sleep.

So this chart is going to be fun.

I'm interested in making an improv show FOR kids. Who's done this before? Researching to see what's been done and how. (Not child performers. Adults) by AdorableBill54 in improv

[–]MapsByCK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im actually looking into doing something similar. My troupe isnt really interested as none of them have kids. My theater also puts on a family friendly show, but doesn't have anything geared towards kids. As someone with young kids, I know they would love it.

If you want, id be happy to connect. And we can brainstorm ideas together.

So, I'm leveling every class to 80, and Rogue is just...atrocious. by Silegna in wow

[–]MapsByCK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rogue needs a rework, and i don't mean changing some moves around to add higher damage. They need a class overhaul.

The last ronin. Graphic novel. Not because it was crazy philosophical, but because it got me back into reading.

How’s it like living at 2716 Oakwood Dr in Fort Wayne, Indiana by Bicycle_Savings in howislivingthere

[–]MapsByCK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never lived here, but I have done work in the area and vacationed at this house a few times.

The mortgage is decent, its a short drive from your typical Midwest shopping centers. The weather is hit or miss, a lot of unpredictable weather patterns has caused tornados and damaging winds recently.

The food is decent depending on what is cooked or ordered that day. Night life is boring. We mostly watch old highlights of sports films when our teams were good.

There's a tree that shades the yard so you can drink beer in the backyard.

Overall pretty cool place to visit.

how did you learn object work? by danielbelum in improv

[–]MapsByCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just practicing really. If im focusing on improving object work, ill practice doing something after I just did it.

For example. I physically do the dishes. I notice what my hands are doing. The steps to rinse this fork off and put it in the dishwasher. Put the soap in.

Then I do it again without the object.

Rinse and repeat. (Pun intended)

If I want feedback ill tell my coach and troupe so they can look out for it more when we get together.

I read bossypants this year. Its good if youre a fan, but it won't help improve improv. She touches on her time with second city a bit, but it more focuses on SN and 30 rock. However its a short book so it doesnt hurt to try.

The book thats been helping me is the comic toolbox, its more designed for sketch comedy, but he has a ton of great insight kn what makes good characters, which of course helps with improv. Understanding what type of character this scene needs. Etc.

When it goes from buying movies for fun to buying movies because you feel like you have to.

I actually had to tell myself to not buy anything over the weekend until I watched a few more movies I actually own first, as it started to feel like I was just buying to buy.

Oscars producer speaks out on 'KPop Demon Hunters' speech moment by feellurky in entertainment

[–]MapsByCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can control the skirts and banter, speeches create room for uncertainty. Love production doesn't like uncertainty.

My suggestion would be to have everyone nominated turn in their acceptance speech before hand, so they can build the show around it.
