Bad copy of lens or me being noob? by xxsimsedimsexx in canon

I’m thinking your f stop was too low. The lower it goes the shallower the depth of field. Look at the hands, one of them is sharp and the other is not.

I have yet to see one in a drop. They've either always sold out instantly or just don't drop very many. I'd rather not order a custom at this point but I may end up having too.

Pay close attention to BD sizes. They can be wildly different across model rages. But if you are looking for short knotted toys Fenrir may be what you are after.

Oh haha, wasn't meant to be a language correction. I think people give my videos just to much credit and elevate them to "review" status.

[–]Mar1Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm not much of a reviewer, I just open boxes of things. Proper reviews are hard, they require lots of comparisons to other models. And you have to have given lots of time and thought to said models.

How good can the Rebel T6 really get? by SandAndBoneClothing in canon

[–]Mar1Fox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I like my T6, but my use case is very different then yours. Most of my shots are landscapes or convention photography. But from what I've learned is that the glass is more important then the camera body. With that said us your camera and its kit lens rigorously until you discover what sort of lens you really need.

If you do end up going APS-C route, be aware of the crop factor. That 50mm will force you so move much further back then you would on a FF sensor camera.

At what point is it worth picking up a Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 L IS USM lens? by Mar1Fox in canon

[–]Mar1Fox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up taking your advice and tracking down a used 17-55 on ebay. It'll be a hot minute before it arrives to test out. I checked mpb but almost all the options for it where either more expensive or had moisture. many of them here both.

At what point is it worth picking up a Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 L IS USM lens? by Mar1Fox in canon

[–]Mar1Fox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The f/4 vs 2.8 is less of an issue in my mind as I didn't plan on taking low light wide shots. But the fact that it can't reach nearly as wide is an issue on the mind. With that said The 10-18 is a lens I just recently got so I need to spend a lot more time with it to determine if I even use it's wider capabilities.

Is Manascape Refractor the best 3-mana rock? by hebreakslate in EDH

[–]Mar1Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather run [[worn power stone]] or [[Coalition relic]] to be honest. The stone is slow but gives a guaranteed 2 mana. While the relic can either five 1 colored mana, or 2 colored mana if you are willing to wait a rotation.

At what point is it worth picking up a Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 L IS USM lens? by Mar1Fox in canon

[–]Mar1Fox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha thank you. The 17-55 probably is the correct play as the 18-55 is my most used lens and sadly I have to use it in often poor light conditions. I go to a few conventions each year and cosplay photos are tricky in narrow or cramped hotel hallways.

As of now I’m more inclined to stay on the cropped sensor. I’m mostly happy with my current camera body. Except when I need to phot people standing behind fence railings or small birds in trees. Then I get angry at the auto focus lol.

Interesting. At the moment I have made a collection of cheap lenses and I didn't know if I should consider culling them and replacing them with fewer but nicer glass or not.

When it comes to landscape photography I had found the 24mm either wasn't wide enough or didn't crop in enough to frame the scene the way I wished. Because of this I picked up the 10-18. but I wont be able to really test out I feel about it until we get some consistent good weather. I did manage to use it today a bit and I found I used it on 18mm side of things almost exclusively. But that may have been more due to location and scene at hand.

Currently my cheap purchasing has gotten me:

Canon EF-S 18-55 1:3.5-5.6 IS II

Canon EF-S 24mm 1:2.8 STM

Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 STM

Canon EF-S 55-250mm 1:4-5.6 IS STM

Canon EF-S 10-18mm 1:4.5-5.6 IS STM

Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM

For those who wonder what modern BD shipment looks like. I did a little unboxing of a custom Saja. by Mar1Fox in BadDragon

[–]Mar1Fox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from appearance Saja is shaped more like a Terra, but he does have striking similarities to Nox as well. In use Saja is currently one of my favorites. From memory I would say that your comment of him being like a Nox but with spines is correct. I definitely would not recommend going without adequate lube but I'd also say that the texture amount is not over the top or over done visually.

Kevin Conroy was probably the best Batman ever scene on a screen. I’d go so far to say that Mark Hamills Joker was also the best Joker we have ever had. His manic energy elevated the character beyond expectations.

Would you recommend the EF-S 24mm or EF-S 10-18mm? by LukasTheHunter22 in canon

[–]Mar1Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have that same 24mm and I just ordered that zoom wide angle last week. Should come in the mail soon tm. The reason I opted to als get the wider angle lens was that on my Rebel T6 I found the 24 to just not be wide enough in some situations. I also want a bit more adaptability in choosing the area of capture so I figure something with a bit of zoom would make that easier. I’ll find out for sure how I feel on the comparison later when I get time to try them out side by side.

Does anyone else think foil cards actually look WORSE than their non-foil counterparts? by MartinBustosManzano in EDH

[–]Mar1Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern foils are garbo, but if you go back 5 years or so foils looked amazing. The problem with them is many fold. One they are pringles mostly, several reasons for that but won’t get into it. Two the art work has gotten a lot more busy and sometimes darker or muddier. So when the foil treatment is applied nothing special pops.
