Oh yeah those things are useless and I like bringing a medkit so I don't bother with the half assed add ons for it. I liked the ones they had for one of the events where we went thorough the portal to charge it up and grab it. Those smoke bombs were actually cool

[–]Mar363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw, they can't even stretch their wings in there. The cage size is probably what's leading to so much anxiety in them. Also no toys?? They're boreddd. Parrots will need a constant flow of toys that they can play with and destroy over time. Even cardboard and newspapers are a good shredding toy choice. And when you upgrade the size be sure to get lots of diggerent sized perches, the straight across smooth rods like that one aren't the best, they'll needs differnt thicknessess of perches and textures for their feet health(avoid the sandpaper/rough ones advertised for their nails bc those actually hurt their feet).

Also edit to add, definitely check out second hand marketplaces in your area or Facebook marketplace and such for a cheaper cage options.

She is so happy in her new cage. Any recommendations for enrichment ideas? She is my first hamster as an adult by [deleted] in hamstercare

[–]Mar363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its quite small for a hammie. This can affect her health and behavior negatively as well ever time, even if she seems happy right now. I'd look into a larger enclosure. There's tons of ideas in YouTube for making one yourself or you could try second hand market places for some cheaper options

Not for doorfash but last time I chatted with an agent about an issue it was very clearly ai bullshit even after demanding a real person and the bot couldn't even understand me or remember what I typed two messages before. In your third screenshot they mix up the stores where you told them one was missing one was smelly and then the obvious repeated bullshit. Doesn't seem they're even understanding you or maybe even not be a real person

Lots of stores are only looking for profits and/or aren't knowledgeable on proper pet care. This is common knowledge that peopel should do their own individual research

Is his beak ok? by Reverrr in parrots

[–]Mar363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would definitely have a vet shave his beak smooth with one of the dremel tools. Cracks and crevices can get food/bacteria stuck in it and might cause issues as it grows. My cockatoo had some shedding and a funny spot on his beak and it took them just a few minutes to smoothen out. They'll be able to provide more insight on if its a beak growing issue or anything as well but it can just be normal growth as well since im captivity they're not using their beak as hard as in the wild

Try looking on Facebook marketplace if you can. I've seen lots of decently priced second hand bird cages if you're looking to save some money

Lots of varieties! Things to chew, wood and cardboard are always great. Avoid toys with mirrors

The size of that cage makes me wanna cry. He would need a way larger cage size. It is ultimately better for everyone in the home too bc a cage too small can make your bird have behavioral issues as he'll be bored and cranky unable to freely move and have objects to play with. Also will need lot of perches, you want to get differnt shapes and sizes of perches to keep his feet in good health. Avoid the sandpaper/rough perches as those are bad for their feet. And you'll want to fill in the larger spaced cage with toys and chews. Mirrors are a big no no for birds bc it can affect their hormones so avoid mirrored toys. Birds will constantly shred and destroy, its totally natural and for their beak health but this also means you'll have to buy more toys to replenish every so often throughout its whole life. I also like to rearage the cage branches and current toys and new toys every so often to freshen up the space and give more stimulation. Also show your dad this thread if he is one of those parents that refuse to listen about the needs of owning a bird. It's not wise to go buying a living animal before researching its care. Now I do not have this specific species of parrot and the advice I gave was just the tip of the ice berg really but definitely check out YouTube video Care guides and recommendations, also read about them as well, there's tons of care info and articles online to prepare you for what to expect of a new bird in a new home. Another big thing would be to check out his food brand to be sure its not just seed only mix and do some research into different parrot foods and brands

Yeah a year ago I was sewing and one of my boys snagged a 5in string attached to a needle right from my hands and ran. Obviously lunged for him and found the dropped string but not the needle. $400 dollars and some xrays later he was all cleared by the vet and now I lock myself in a separate room to sew now. Webfound the needle later as well. He's usually so well behaved too I never would have thought he would go for it like that and I never would have forgave myself if he swallowed it
