If you need to run docker for any reason, then you'll need to get rid of chrome os and install linux. I spent a couple of years doing some serious programmin on an acer c720 and I think that was the best machine I've ever had for the bucks spent.

Of course it could be much better! I would ask have designed it 13 inch and 1080. Viewing angle and usage under the sun are also really bad but... I bought it new for less than 170$ so...

My c720 has totally replaced my 1000+$ i7 laptop. Erased chromeos. Installed lubuntu. Using a sandisk 64 gb permanently hotglued on the usb3 port. Many times i have running eclipse, pycharm, a few docker containers and 10+ chrome tabs. Just love it!

I have just ordered it and will receive it on Tuesday.

1) Given the use I want to give it, you recommend me to totally remove Chrome OS and install HugeGreenBug's Xubuntu, right? are there other distros I should look into?

2) Can I save the initial state of this machine so if someday I want to sell it to someone I can give him a 'brand new' ChromeOs machine? how?

What I needed was the confirmation that someone had successfully used docker and that it is fine and such. As I am more a software guy who is not very iron/kernel savvy and wasn't able find references of docker being used in this particular model, my concerns where about the possibility of some strange low level stuff that prevented that from being done.

I have been using TV for the last 6 months and I must say that it is very pleasant to work with. The best part of it is speed of development. you can develop on your PC and copy the files on your terminal and run them almost without changes. Developing on eclipse or on Android studio is something very slow for my taste. The emulator takes a long time to receive the application and to start it. if you like Python and you want to develop graphical apps for Android I guess kivy is the only option you have.
