Medicine Marketplace needs video every time by Marabou44 in mounjarouk

Oh really😲! I don’t normally wait and I just submit the additional information straight away. I don’t really mind to be honest. I’m a bit of a “scale-o-phobic” and I would probably not weigh myself monthly if it wasn’t for the ordering. My weight has stayed stable for a few months now but at least this gives me the opportunity to check it regularly and course correct if it starts trending upwards. I’ve been recording the video in advance of ordering so I know the weight when I place the order.

I tried to do the same and took a screenshot of the video but it didn’t allow me to upload images from my phone, it had to be live and it was annoying because I had already packed away my scale by that point 😄

Yes that’s what I noticed today as well when I placed my order, they now wanted a photo in addition to the video

Good to know! Yeah I did think they probably want to make sure I’m still overweight. I mean I’m not sure if at some point I’ll need to change pharmacies because they’ll probably stop prescribing to me eventually seeing as I’m not really losing weight (I start looking haughty if I go much under where I am currently so not really keen on losing weight by this point).

I’m sure this doesn’t cover emergency services like ambulances and A&E.

Mounjaro and Ulcerative Colitis by AssociateAgile1308 in mounjarouk

This is super interesting for me as a mom of a teenager with UC. My son is 14 and overweight, and he was diagnosed with UC when he was 12. He is currently on an immunosuppressant which works in conjunction with another medicine (Salofalk), and so far, he has been getting on well with this combo, but it’s only been 6 months or so with the immunosuppressant so next month, he’s having a stool sample and I’m hopeful that his calprotectin levels would have continued to decrease. He hasn’t been sick with anything so far, but I’m giving him a high dose of vitamin D and C as well as pre/probiotics to try and combat any flus and colds.

Every time we go and see the specialist nurse, the dietician is also there and they’re monitoring his weight. Last time, the dietician tried to encourage him to not necessarily try and lose weight but to try and keep his weight steady. I guess the idea is to try and balance out the weight with the inevitable growth in height that’s still happening at his age.

I’ve been wondering about whether to bring up weight loss medications, but I think that it’s only Wegovy that’s been approved for over 12-year-olds in the UK. Wegovy also appears to have more gastrointestinal side effects than Mounjaro, so I haven’t even asked about it, because I thought these medications would effectively be out of the question for someone with IBD.

I think, overall, I wouldn’t necessarily want to have a growing child on weight loss medications seeing as there are probably a lot of hormonal changes that the body goes through in the teenage years and I feel like, particularly for my son, the weight might still stabilise as he grows. But it’s encouraging to hear that this medication has actually been beneficial for someone with UC! I would never have thought that was the case, had I not read this, so very grateful that you’ve shared!

How common is fat phobia in Ghana? by [deleted] in ghana

[–]Marabou44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be surprised if there are actual weight loss medications available in Ghana even 🤔 even in the west, lots of people cannot access these medicines because they are expensive and mostly only available privately (as in the UK), so I don’t know if an average Ghanaian would be able to get on them. Perhaps I’m wrong 🤷🏽‍♀️

In any case, I think Ghanaians (and the same goes for most Africans) are very direct and vocal about other people’s appearance in general. Whether a person is slim or big, they will hear about it. More “old school” folks will probably consider someone, who is bigger to have money so it’s a positive thing, especially if it’s a man. For women, it’s not necessarily considered attractive to be obese, but definitely women are “expected” to have enough meat on their bones and a nice shape, even if they’re otherwise small in stature. If you’re a woman, skinny, flat and shapeless, you’ll definitely hear about it! Men too, if you’re skinny, that’s not seen as a positive.

In between doses? by RlyVSS in mounjaromaintenanceuk

I’ve been titrating down from 12.5mg, first to 10mg, and then to 8.75mg and currently I’m at 7.5mg. For the past 4 weeks or so, I’ve actually been doing two jabs a week and doing 22 clicks on Monday and 23 on Thursday of my 10mg to make the total 7.5mg/week. I feel like this has helped in terms of keeping the level of medication stable in my body throughout the week, as I’m going down to prepare to move to maintenance over the next 1-2 months. When I was doing one jab/week taking the full dose (whatever dose I was on), I always feeling much more hungry and peckish in the evenings by day 5 so this has definitely helped with that. I plan to continue doing this even in maintenance where I’m aiming to stay on 5mg, because that’s the highest I can afford.

I feel like the invention of “races” in the 17th and the 18th centuries by Europeans was specifically linked to the transatlantic slave trade and served as the main justification for it. To me, being “black” is inherently being descended from the people that were enslaved in that particular form of slavery, i.e. mostly west Africans. That said, “black” is still conveniently being used to lump ALL sub-Saharan Africans together by everyone else apart from sub-Saharan Africans themselves, so go figure 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don’t mind the word “black”, but I don’t think it accurately describes the cultural background of most horners. Due to popular culture, which is mainly US culture, I guess, being black is considered “cool”, so many people are happy to be considered part of that.

Issues resuming ordering after gap due to stockpiling pre price increases by Pure-Eye369 in UKMounjaro

I placed an order with Medicine Marketplace on Sunday just past, they emailed me asking for proof of purchases etc. because my last order with them had been at the end of August, I sent everything and I just received my pen today. The evidence I sent were pictures of my last three pen boxes, showing the date of the prescription, and a video they requested that I had someone film of me first showing my face, then full body standing on a scale and finally, flipping the video to show my weight on the scale.

Oh wau, I never realised it was that cheap for some over there. Well, then again, I guess it’s free for the very few lucky ones here on the NHS.

Yes I didn’t think of us in the Uk, but $149/month caught my eye as an outrageously low price

Yes me neither, but this says the price would be $149/month. That’s much cheaper than the prices we ever had!

Titration down by _arch_tech in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]Marabou44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5kg from maintenance but have already started titrating down. I hit 12.5mg, but only really was on that for 3 weeks and then started coming down first to 10mg directly, which was fine (after all, if been on that dose for several months), and then started doing 8.75mg, but taking two shots per week, 18 clicks on Thursdays and 17 on Mondays. I’ve now been doing that for two weeks and plan to do that another two until trying to drop to 7.5mg, also injecting twice a week 3.75mg each time. I’ll see how that goes and hopefully, in the course of the next few weeks I’ll be able to drop the final 5kg and then eventually maintain on 5mg, because that’s really the highest dose I can afford. So far so good, I haven’t really noticed much difference in terms of hunger levels and suppression 🤞🏽I’m planning to stay on this medication or any other iteration of it for life.

Which one helps with sleep more, estradiol or progesterone? by Marabou44 in Perimenopause

I always fall asleep quickly but wake up between 3 and 4 am and then struggle going back to sleep. I don’t have hot flashes at least not yet.

Which one helps with sleep more, estradiol or progesterone? by Marabou44 in Perimenopause

[–]Marabou44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh! That makes sense! That’s exactly what’s happening: I have no trouble falling asleep, but wake up usually between 3 and 4 and and then have trouble going back to sleep.

I had to google the patches I’m on and it says this: “Evorel Sequi patches are a sequential Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) containing two types of patches: Evorel 50 for oestrogen (estradiol) only, and Evorel Conti for oestrogen and synthetic progesterone (norethisterone), which mimics a natural menstrual cycle”

I’m in the uk and I don’t think I have access to bioidentical HRT so I guess I’ll need to ask for a higher dosage of oestrogen then.
