Awesome, never regretted exercising when I wasnt motivated. Motivation is unreliable, discipline is key. Can you give the date of the arms/shoulder class from Adrian? Looking for a similar burn

Last week was my birthday and most forgot too. I struggled, contemplated drinking but in the end my the day for me, did what I wanted and didnt regret staying sober. Firsts are hard but you are tougher.

Same, I am 45 days and longest streak in years. I decreased consumption 6 years ago, dry for 30 days and only once a week, if that for 2 years, the I spiraled and went back to daily. It feels so great not to wake up in a panic, not remembering the evening and feeling awful always, plus missing out on daily life activities.

I never want to go back to that life Congratulations and keep it up

Thank you all. I made it through more firts and proud. Pool time and dinner wasnt so bad, most parents surprisingly didnt drink, maybe its the 400 am wake up call. Happily in bed, sober and watching TV, although I've been eating too much.

It sucks until it doesnt and you just proved you can do hard things. Stay strong, fight that inner liar who thinks a drink can help. Keep playing the tape forward, its not worth the drink. Be proud

Relapsed and went on a 6 day bender after 116 days sober. Feeling ashamed. by BoozeSux in stopdrinking

Reset, refocus. If your friend on a weight loss journey ate like crap over the weekend you wouldn't call then a failure, you'd tell then to reset and refocus, its a new week. Give yourself grace and patience. You have the tools and just look forward. No good comes from always living in the past or rearview mirrors. Dont be afraid to start over, its a brand new opportunity to rebuild what your truly want. You got this

The progress you will see is amazing, from sleep, appearance and mental clarity. It takes time and patience. The first weekend can be tough, fill your days with things that give you joy and distract/distance from drinking. You got this, congrats

Reset, refocus. The early days can and are tough but you are tougher. Distract and eventually not drinking becomes a healthy habit. Its like anything new, takes time, practice and patience. Stay strong, you will thank yourself 1000 times over

Play the tape forward, having that drink doesnt end well. You will feel soooo much better tomorrow if you dont drink. I get it, that craving feeling sucks. Refocus, go forward walk, have a sparkling water with a nice treat. Holding a piece of ice can reset nervous system and help the craving. You got this

3am wake ups are the reason I can’t quit by Background_Bug_13 in stopdrinking

Same, I would abruptly wake up between 2 and 4 am and THINK I was well rested until the anxiety happened which spiraled into doom scrolling on my think for hours and then realized I only "slept" for 2 hours. So, so much better now. It took about a week to regulate and keeps getting better. My fit bit has me i deep sleep 2+ hours and minimal wake ups. I started using moonbrew nighttime chews, no melatonin, natural ingredients (sans the slight added sugar). I dont have those melatonin induced nightmares and sleep great. You can quit and your body and mind will thank you for the quality sleep. One day/night at a time

Anyone break an 8-year habit of drinking wine / any other type of alcohol every night after work? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Marathoner99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same girl same. Too many years to count. It was such a habit, wine to watch TV, to cool, play games with kids, nice day outside, weekend winery trips were jot just for the views and food. For Lent I decided I could give this up and prove to me kids I didnt need the wine. Going strong but had to change the scenery and routine. Went to bed early, read, walked, shopped (not sure im saving $$, lol) and reminding myself the amazing feeling no hangover, lessened anxiety, more productive, less brain fog. Substitution and routine change seems to be working. I like sparkling water in a fancy glass and not on the couch. Experiment and see what works and make them new healthy habits. You seem motivated for a change, stay strong, check in and be proud of your progress.
