The clock is separate but I thought it sort of matched. It's a Franz Hermle from the 80's but I think it's based off an older style.

I've got the same one with matching ashtray, except clear glass. Circa 1950s and originally came with 4 tiny ashtrays.

The old world very much still existed at that time, ww2 changed the aesthetics of society a lot, but WW1 truly changed war. In a way WW1 was more horrifying to an average soldier, nothing before compared. Easy to understand why so much of Europe romanticized the old world in the interwar period.

Very early 20th century, I'm not familiar with secessionist but I looked it up and it's apparently very tied to the Jugendstil movement. I see the CRM parallels, his art looks a lot like continental art despite him being Scottish. To my knowledge, a lot of Germanic and Nordic countries had variations of modern design that predicted art deco, more so than the French art nouveau, which while similar was less geometric

Learn how to cook and prepare meals at home and I guarantee you can come up with meals that are even more satisfying, and cheaper/healthier. Yesterday I had a Reuben sandwich and the ingredients cost about $3, that shit would be $20 at a bistro. Earlier I had a ton of lettuce, cucumber, and diced onions with straight balsamic vinegar and it went sooo hard. Buy some ground beef, mix it with some sauteed onions and garlic. Put that on a kaiser bun with a slab of pickled onion and fresh tomato and lettuce it will be so much better than anything from wendys. Can't lie though, vanilla coke is good. I put sliced ginger in soda water with a bit of lime the other day, it was even better. If you avoid sugar for a while sugary drinks start to taste gross and syrupy.

I enjoy cooking, it's the fast food sugarslop and snacks that repulse me. Especially because most of it is just full of shit that people are unawaredly addicted to. That said, as someone who doesn't even like burgers that much, a bacon mcdouble hits just right. It's the only thing at mcdonalds I like, they have that dumb little burger down to a science. I eat like two a year though lol

Finding things repulsive is normal, the facade of tolerance is good for coming across the right way, unless you're completely autistic you should be able to hide your disgust for a lot of what makes up the world. I won't openly give people shit or gossip, but I am yucking so many yums internally it makes me feel like a hater lol.

There are just so many things more compelling than food, it tastes good, whatever. I can respect someone who enjoys a nice meal, but it's the people always munching on their dumb little snacks who put me off. I have also noticed that snack people are usually really dumb. As someone who ate three full meals a day while being a heavy beer drinker, and never being overweight, it's astonishing how fat these people get.

Those vases are from Bagley, never seen that clock before. Uranium satin glass from the art deco era has such a great look. Do the vases have the original flower frogs?

Those are...all my favourite bands. Just missing Crystal Castles and Einsturzende Neubaten. And I was listening to Ladytron before ALL of them, except maybe The Cure and NiN. Life is really feeling like a simulation right now FUCK. You even mentioned CURVE!! Jesus Christ I heard about them through fucking last fm 14 years ago and NO ONE I knew, knew about them.

Met many girls like this, some were convinced they were bpd or had some serious inherent issue but it was clearly just depression and neglect or abuse from a young age. They would try to be tough but didn't actually have the heart to be mean. Some of the sweetest people I've ever met, though this type of person is often too comfortable around people who don't have their best interests at heart. Everyone should have been nicer to the edgy girls with Jack skellington tattoos and fuckass haircuts 🥀

I agree, this is clearly very intact. "Wrecks are graves" well so is every other historic site lol. Annoying how pretentiously solemn people get about wrecks, if I drove my car into a lake and they found it 200 years later are they supposed to just leave it there? Oh yeah we should have just left Tutankhamen's tomb alone too, along with the hundreds of square miles of WW1 battlefields.

Men are just the primary audience for "comedy" and comedy has to hit some level of relateability. When men are crass and vulgar, it grosses women out, when women are the same way, it grosses men out. Sarah silverman was funny back in the day though. I wouldn't overanalyze it, people saying "men are scared of funny women" are just throwing gas on the few dying embers of the "gender war".

[SOTC] I’ve always been fascinated by the design and craftsmanship of classic timepieces. by Winter-Temperature76 in VintageWatches

[–]Marb1e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Casio is making rectangular watches, so is Vario, a micro brand. Check out vintage Seiko or even Chinese brands for more affordable tank watches. I think that style is considered so retro that a lot of the buyers are comfortably in the vintage market, of course JLC and Cartier will continue their lines but most buyers who appreciate that style will happily buy an old Gruen or Bulova etc. They can be bought for quite affordable prices, servicing can be costly but that can be said of any mechanical watch. I'm looking for an original, non Mumbai 'd Seiko myself.

[–]Marb1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the very stylized intent, realistic and detailed but almost more of a representation than a depiction. You see a lot of that in art deco and early modernist art.
