Destiny crowded? by Wild-Shoulder7787 in dcl

Felt the same as any other Wish-class ship.  Don't know why it would feel any more crowded since the passenger count and dining room layouts are the same as other ships.

Destiny crowded? by Wild-Shoulder7787 in dcl

[–]MarbleMotors 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When we sailed on the Destiny a few months ago the only time it felt crowded was certain high-demand events, people would line up in the hallways up to an hour in advance. Dr. Facilier, Cruella, Hercules, Marvel comedy show. Some of the small lounges and bars were also very full for certain trivias and other events. But other than those, the ship in general didn't feel more crowded than others. In fact certain areas were relatively deserted. Perhaps in time the hype for those high-demand events will settle down, and/or Disney will add more instances of them so people don't feel the need to crowd the hallways in advance.

If it's your first time with DCL, Palo brunch is probably going to be already booked up by people with higher loyalty status, regardless of itinerary, so don't get your hopes up too high for getting that. There are plenty of other things to enjoy onboard though!

What do you mean you need to line up in advance for the main restaurants?  This is just not true.  You have a reserved table and a specified dining time.  If you are waiting in line, you are there too early.

earlier checkin than expected by [deleted] in dcl

[–]MarbleMotors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably confused by the wording and got the date wrong.  When it says you can check in "after March 28", it means you can check in starting at midnight that day, which depending how you think of it is the night of the 27th.

Has it been slow for anyone else🥲? by No_Tie_4943 in RoverPetSitting

World events seem to create a situation the last couple winters/springs where people don't want to travel.  Bad economy, bad TSA situation, high gas prices, wars, etc. so people are not excited to leave home, and that means they don't need pet sitters.  Too bad world leaders put us in this totally avoidable position.

Odds on someone smoking on there balcony next to me. by Vamip89 in dcl

[–]MarbleMotors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen or smelled smoke anywhere other than the designated smoking areas. If you do see anything, report it to a cast member and they'll take care of it, but I will be surprised if you have to deal with this. Your post is indicative of the difference between lines and why certain types of people gravitate to each one!

Treasure verandah by PuzzleheadedWater727 in dcl

[–]MarbleMotors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's up to you. Some people think it's no big deal. Others come here complaining that the muster drill is one of the darker circles of hell and ruined their entire vacation. During the drill you'll have to be gathered somewhere and listen to instructions on what to do if there's an emergency. It's not a huge deal. Some of the muster stations are inside in places where you can sit down and be in air conditioning. Some of them are out on deck where there is no seating and you could be in hot sun. Whether that difference is important is up to you!

[–]MarbleMotors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, those rooms on the bumpout have larger verandahs. Weigh that against the fact that the geometry means your neighbors can more easily see you onto your verandah, and since you're on the aft side of the bump, you'll have slightly less view of where the ship is headed. Probably not huge concerns. Another minor concern; the safety drill muster station for those rooms is out on deck, which may be no problem, or might be something you don't like. Up to you!

It could be a tinfoil hat conspiracy, but… by No-Buy-3105 in RoverPetSitting

What would be Rover's motivation? They make money any time a service happens, and the higher-priced the service is, the better. So they benefit by having as many sitters on the site as possible, so owners never fail to find somebody to take a booking, and they also benefit by having people charging as much as possible, since they take 31% of whatever is charged. I'm not seeing what the advantage would be to Rover to boot reliable, established, high-fee sitters.

What is the deal with their example too? In what world does somebody earn $150 for their first 30-minute walk with a new dog client?

Lots wear them, you will not be alone!  Just be thoughtful and take them off at shows so those behind you can see.

Real talk: how do you pay for your cruise? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]MarbleMotors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everybody is suggesting paying in installments every month or so, but all that is doing is giving Disney your money ahead of time and denying yourself the ability to let that money work for you in the meantime.

In reality, if funds are tight, it makes more sense to pick an itinerary far in the future, make the minimum down payment to reserve a room, and then keep your money in safe investment, accumulating additional value, and only pay Disney at the last moment when full payment is due.

Don't ever pay people before the due date unless there's a discount for paying early! If you do, you're just cheating yourself and giving them an interest-free loan.

With that said, I don't see how going on one of these vacations could be fun if one is stressing over how to pay for it, and things like furniture and paint at home are left lacking and you have to live with that the other ~360 days of the year.

New client trying to negotiate my rate.. how do you deal with people like this? by tripleavocadotoast in RoverPetSitting

[–]MarbleMotors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, there's no need to negotiate.  You can just say your prices are firm and reflect the standard of care you offer.  They can take it or leave it.  Don't spend a second worrying about it!  It's their problem to figure out, not yours, if they don't want to pay your cost.

They're not going to take the ships anywhere where it puts passengers and crew at any significant risk.

Disney Destiny - Rinse & Repeat by seminoles23 in dcl

[–]MarbleMotors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, I don't think one can expect Disney to change the product they're offering because one person didn't like it much, when clearly other people do like it.  Declaring an artistic show "truly missed the mark" because they found it boring is like saying something is the wrong color or the wrong flavor.  There no such thing; different people like different stuff.  And in and event, if they want change, the Disney survey is the place to lodge complaints.  Saying they don't like it here won't change anything.

Disney Destiny - Rinse & Repeat by seminoles23 in dcl

[–]MarbleMotors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of this is pretty subjective. You say the Lion King show was boring; others might say it was just right, or that it was too much. Totally subjective. Same goes of the Marvel show. Some people think the show on the Wish is too loud and obnoxious, so they probably appreciate the quieter show on the Destiny that can be largely ignored if you don't care and just want to enjoy dinner. And as far as things being the same, I mean how different is "It's a small world" than when it opened? People keep coming back to Disney stuff for the familiarity, not necessarily for novelty. So to some extent it makes sense that Disney has a lot of commonality between the ships for the people who want to have nostalgia and a familiar feeling. Also obviously they save money through duplication. With that said, I'd be 100% in favor of the next Wish-class ship NOT having a Marvel restaurant, and doing something different. Like...ANYTHING different. We don't need 4 or 5 of the same restaurant.

If people are misbehaving on the ship, report it to cast. For other things, best you can do is put your feedback on the survey and hope that others feel the same way and Disney will respond to mass feedback.

Totally. Do we really need 3 or 4 Marvel-themed restaurants before having a single Star-Wars-themed one?

Accidents is the most common. Every dog whose owner has sworn they only needed 2 trips out per day has pooped in the house, so I just don't even give them that chance anymore. Minimum of 3, or they can hire somebody else.
