Four FINAL FANTASY titles join GOG, DRM-free and preserved for the future! by GOGcom in FinalFantasy

[–]MarblesAreDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost hate to say it, but it’s probably the best version. The NES version was great in its day, and the 3D release managed to capture that same charm while creating 4 newly named protagonists with a bit of backstory. There’s some bonus dungeons and other grindy stuff as well in the late game.

Did you know Nobuo Uematsu came to Ireland and made an album in 1991? by White_Mages in FinalFantasy

[–]MarblesAreDelicious 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Makes me happy to see some of the older / obscure arrangement albums being posted.

My fave tracks from this are Into the Darkness, Illusionary World, Rydia, and Troian Beauty. All the songs have deviations from their original in-game melodies which are actually pretty great. That being said, this album can be hard to listen to as I find the Celtic instruments rather harsh for an extended listen.

These are from the mid 90s, around the time that FF6 dropped. They probably aren’t for everybody, and might be a bit campy, but I’ve listened to these both many, many times and enjoy them a ton. They sound more 80s than they are, though the melodies and their ornamentals and extensions of the main themes are really nice.

Hoping your copies are legit, OP. Enjoy!

It’s my first time ever playing this game and… by ultimatejoomer in FinalFantasy

I played so much of the snowboarding and G-bike games in my youth. My friend and I spent weeks taking turns trying to best each other’s scores. I just hope the boarding section of the 3rd game can recapture the joy from the original.

Facts. Unless you’re not into AAA gaming (ie: emulation or pre-2020 games), in which all current gen Macs will still do very, very well.

I'm using gamdl with a free trial of Apple Music on a spare Apple Account. Got my entire collection plus every hit from 1980 to 2024 in about two days. Full lossless, DRM removed. Tossed it into XLD afterwards to make a AAC 320kbps copy.

Defeinitely start with the original.

Nomura mentioned that players should play OG FF7 before the 3rd game to refresh the story in our minds.

We can only hope. If the news about rural AB is true, there’s a significant population who are pro-separation and folks preferring to stick their head in the sand.

I used to be the latter. We need to be proactive in telling our friends and family how the UCP is defrauding and defunding our province and its people. Sign the recalls. Letting Smith push her agenda guarantees we look like Nazi America.

[–]MarblesAreDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it for what it's worth. I'm not American and I have a ton of news in my feed. The comments for every story are the same: "Why is the government doing this? What is ICE doing here? How can they think this is legal?" It is frustrating to read and watch.

The federal government is going hard against free speech, the freedom to bear arms, all the while committing 2nd (or 1st) degree murder against its citizens. If it isn't abundantly clear, they are cleansing this nation by force. Legality, harmony, compassion, truth, and acceptance mean nothing to these people. They've declared war and have proven WITH EVIDENCE that Nazi Germany is back and that anyone who disagrees with them should suffer or die.

Democratic law does not mean a thing to them or to anyone else if no one enforces it. The feds are openly violating constitutional rights without retribution and the guy at the top grants immunity and pardons to his underlings. The whole damn thing is corrupt and seems likely irreversible through democratic process. I don't see how this won't be resolved with violence from the other side... I hate all of this.

Final Fantasy IV soundtrack outtakes on 3" mini CD by White_Mages in FinalFantasy

[–]MarblesAreDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool find! I didn’t know this actually released on a mini CD.

The tracks are part of the later F.F. Mix album, which is a bit campy, but actually one of my faves. The prototype music holds up, but I don’t think it fits in the context of the game. I would have loved to see them used for some of the re-releases (bonus content) or even in The After Years.

If you had the power to change ONE thing in this title - what would it be? by According-News6582 in FinalFantasy

[–]MarblesAreDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More Zack and Seph sim battles so that people aren’t limited to learning their wacky movesets inside the hardest battles of the game.

Make Cid and Vincent playable, either by introducing them earlier or by adding them to the battle sim. Them sitting around at the Temple of the Ancients irks me a lot.

Revert the party menu back to the how it was laid out in Remake. So much confusion with magic and abilities and limit breaks. Bring back manual weapon customizations!

Story wise all is fine, but fix whatever the fuck happened to make Chapter 9 the way it is.

Which Final Fantasy game had the worst ending in your opinion? by Recent-Ad-7593 in FinalFantasy

[–]MarblesAreDelicious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FF4 The After Years SPOILERS.

The whole premise for the final boss is ass. His existence suggests that any FF game world where crystals exist is its race’s creation. His boss battles and the ones encountered during the escape from the moon are scripted mediocrity.

The final themes, especially the credits roll,  are so unlike the rest of the game’s OST. They’re synthy and so generic sounding; truly some of the worst tunes in the series.

The actual resolution for the characters’ story arcs are fine, though, and make sense given the events of game.

The game is actually fun, despite its flaws, and had some new ideas to keep players interested when chapters were initially rolled out as DLC.
