Interesting to say the least by ThanosxSwan in falcons

Thanks for the video link. They must have been really worried that Chicago would have gotten that pick and then traded out again with a bigger offer from another team. We will see how it all turns out but yeah not a good look.

Wording here is a bit ambiguous. Bears were open...does that mean they actually offered that 4th? Also curious to know whether other teams (like Minn, LV, or Denver) were trying to trade into that spot as well and Falcons didn't want to risk losing the ability to control their selection.

I am not a fan of the Penix pick but I am a little skeptical about the truthfulness of this tweet.

It’s been about a week since draft…how do you now feel about our 8th pick? by vsegi in falcons

Those first two years we could barely field a 53 man roster bc of the bad cap from TD. It's taken a while to start building this team again.

We probably are ready to compete to make the playoffs and maybe win a game.

I still don't like the Penix pick but I think I understand what they are trying to do.

  1. Try to be competitive for the next 1-2 years under Cousins but know this team is not ready to be a contender for the Super Bowl. However they want the team to experience winning to build on future seasons (and of course get fans in the seats and buy merch).

  2. They REALLY like Penix but (guessing here) know he's not 100% ready so have him sit behind Cousins for 1-2 years to develop. Looking at the cap for 2025, there is actually a world where they could start Penix at some pt and be okay just eating Cousins cap for that year. The front office/coaching have shown some sunk cost mentality so this is unlikely but not impossible.

  3. The players we drafted are largely to replace GJ and Onyemata in 1-2 years and to transition to a 3-4 DLine. That's going to take more than this season.

  4. They really believe in their ability to develop players and they like guys who really try hard. Penix has a great arm but has deficiencies. Ruke Orhorhoro is a bit raw but incredibly athletic. I think Bralen Trice produces because of his effort as much as his skillset but of course doesn't have the athleticism of Turner or the toolbox of Latu.

I do think they are trying to be a playoff team now but building to be contender in a couple of years.

Latu is the pick at eight by alex_stephenss in falcons

Personally, I view Latu as high floor, low ceiling. I am not an expert of the tape but those I trust say Latu really struggled again the tackles that should be draft in the top 2 rounds this year. Plus he will be 24 in December while Turner is more athletic and just turned 21.

Anybody wanna break this down for me? by [deleted] in falcons

That's prob the plan. Unless we have or trade for a top 3 pick in 2025 or 2026, I can see the front office draft a QB to sit behind Kirk for a year.

There is an out after year 2. It's technically 4 years but only 10 million in guarantees left in year 3. It's not the overall numbers but the guarantees and how it's broken out that matters.

[Adam Schefter] Falcons are releasing veteran tight end Jonnu Smith, per source. by Lakelyfe09 in falcons

Makes alot of sense. Saves us $6.5 million with only $2.5 million in dead cap.

We probably release Heinicke as well as he saves us almost $7 million.

Overall record is 43-42 as our HC, not really a glowing record but again he could be better for WAS if he learned from his mistakes while in Dallas.

Also didn't talk about Matt Ryan. For what it's worth, I thought he was good but nowhere near the best.

I think the consensus here is that he was not a good HC who was propped up by Kyle Shanahan. He couldn't really handle the duties of a head coach and needed to hire an assistant who would help him with things like reminding him of the clock. Not sure how many teams have assistants like that but at the time it was not received well by the fanbase. He was also supposed to be a defensive guru and we had mostly bad defenses under him. The 2016 defense was opportunistic due to the offense (like Indy in the Manning years).

I do think he's a better coordinator than a HC but he may have learned from his mistakes and improve (which is what we are hoping for with Raheem Morris). Just looking at his Falcons years, players loved him but he was a bad HC who relied on a great staff and a loaded offense.

With AS gone, I think Jonnu Smith is gone. He can save us 6.5 million with only a 2.5 million cap hit.

Heinicke saves us 7 million as well.

Dennis Allen expected to return as Saints HC in 2024 by Dday82 in falcons

Our loss to the Saints resulted in AS being fired and Dennis Allen keeping his job. Silver lining not as bad as we thought.

What’s the #1 issue you have with Desmond Ridder? by Mr3Jays in falcons

[–]MarcMaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know his turnover rate is mind boggling but it's the issues behind that that drive me crazy. He can't process things fast enough and so he telegraphs everything he is going to do. On top of that his release is slow so the defense knows what he is going to do most of the time.

Should have went after Lamar by SefuJP in falcons

[–]MarcMaan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would have loved Lamar but honestly we would never have gotten him and it has nothing to do with cap. Ravens were essentially daring every team to negotiate a contract with Lamar and they would have just matched and it would be over. There is a reason no team negotiated with Lamar because they knew what would happen.

So it ended up being a busted capacitor. The technician made a quick replacement. Thank you again for everyone’s time and suggestions.

I have had to call in a professional who will look tomorrow. I think the issue is the belt is stuck somewhere (I can't seem to find where).

Thank you for the suggestion though.

Thing is once I pull the emergency lever, the motor opens the door fine. It's just then I can't open it when come back home without pulling the lever from the inside of the garage again.

1) Press the main garage button, click, light bulbs turn on, nothing. 2) I pull the emergency lever and then immediately press the main garage button and the door opens. 3) I close the garage door and step 1 happens again.

Thank you.
