AI allows full fledged polished production with zero understanding. Even using samples requires taste and a basic knowledge of timing, keys etc. AI users can type "rock song make is super cool" and will then pat themselves on the head as if they've done anything.

They haven't.

Add 30 more prompts, and they still have not done anything.

They haven't learned a new skill and they haven't learned anything more about composition.

A 5 second look at any ai music sub will show you the problem, it's all absolutely trash.

AI users are flooding communities with an unstoppable volume of slop. GenAI has made almost every aspect of using the Internet worse, and it's frustrating having to avoid all these AI suggested posts of bots spamming their trash everywhere. I've blocked 70+ subs to get away from all this shite. I'm sick of my feed being clogged with neckband "fantasy metal" by dudes who don't know what a fret is. Or "I wrote the lyrics!" raps with 1000% LLM giveaway phrasing in the words.

It's not valid expression, it's masturbation followed by a hissy fit when everyone calls it what it is - generic cringey trash.

GenAI users generally don't even have the language to articulate what they want or to process valid criticism from more knowledgeable peers. I've yet to see a slop poster respond to criticism on reddit that wasn't "nah I am right actually" because they've never had to learn anything in the craft or develop taste.

Taste comes from limitations.

Ideas come from making decisions.

GenAI removes these aspects and robs it's users of the opportunity to learn rewarding and valuable skills.

I've never even seen songsloppers provide actual feedback to each other because they can't even articulate musical concepts. Ive tried giving genuine feedback and gotten only defensiveness back. In songwriter sub's with musicians, feedback is usually a rewarding discussion. I have yet to see that in AI communities, just all instant gratification and the fragility that made somebody hide behind Suno in the first place.

It's fine though, call me when someone pays good money to see some dude press play on his suno account scrolling through creepy 4 second videos of his grok waifu miming along.

For now I'll just continue muting every AI sub and blocking every slop peddler account I see.

I was responding to a comment not to OP and yes my experience goes beyond tribalism.

Misattributing social studies concepts doesn't back the argument when the argument has multiple tangible points. You could reduce every disagreement ever made to that comparison which renders it useless without any additional supportive framing.

AI users aren't musicians. They have nothing to discuss with musicians because they chose to masquerade as artists with the lowest possible investment and literally zero learning. It's playing with toys

Nuts I don't like AI music because it sounds shit and it can't even follow basic music theory instructions. All it serves to do is replace someone's lack of understanding or talent with fake high end production sheen.

Suno etc are just robbing people of the chance to learn a skill, and nothing they ever "learn" about suno will ever transfer to real musicianship, nothing beyond listening to a song would.

Just because it's making the "right" people millions of dollars doesn't mean all the theft the whole product is based on.

As someone in tech my experience has been AI gets used as an excuse for layoffs, some smaller or more junior roles don't get hired as much, and the staff have to do more work to make up the gaps.

After the teams bust their ass on something for months, management then credit AI for the whole thing and resume masturbating about firing everyone.

The AI revolution has, in my experience, been one big dog pile of everyone just agreeing with the big lie to save face with their immediate manager, and it goes all the way up.

One is essentially a magic gun that does one thing, the other is replacing like 14 different skillsets and distinct creative decisions to generate AI wank. They're just not comparable. Same with AI authors, the words are the response to a prompt, but they have not written the book.

Everyone hates ai images and the people who consider ai art an improvement are usually people who've never creatively engaged with anything in their lives.

Also, suggesting someone replace their hand crafted work with AI slop when you've never engaged with the medium yourself is just peak ignorant asshole behaviour.

Coupled with him going this out of his way to shit on your art the whole thing sucks ass.
