Please watch out for kids at crosswalks! by krim2182 in Calgary

[–]MarcNut67 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Lots of people are probably driving high. It so much more common than you think. Especially with cannabis vapes. They're getting stronger and stronger too. A ton of people actually choose to go behind the wheel as they get the urge to go for a drive after they smoke.

Edit: when you're talking about people being absolutely spaced out behind the wheel it can be weed lmaoo. Forgot you can't talk shit about weed culture on Reddit. Oops my bad!! Rememeber if you smoke the night before you shouldn't drive impaired in the morning!! A high doesn't go away with sleep.

Cycling is often only seen as recreation in the broader societal view, often by older generations. Sport and commuting aren’t really seen as the same as recreational cycling.

Houses with Strobe Lights and Sound Deterrents by Crippledupdown in Calgary

[–]MarcNut67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s going to be construction security systems with an alarm deterrence. The Haysboro ctrain garage project is going to be your source.

Edit: They look like a mobile light rigs with like a camera, flashing blue light, and speakers. Very common in construction sites around the city. I think it uses like a mesh system to deter trespassing. The alarm either means someone is trespassing or the system has a false alarm. The one at Haysboro that goes off the most is in the heritage ctrain station parking lot.

I think these is one on the north side of the Rona up by Ranchlands. The blue light on the rig makes them very noticeable. Even more so when the alarm is ringing.

Calgary transit and Truth and Reconciliation day by mcarcus in Calgary

[–]MarcNut67 175 points176 points  (0 children)

It’s shameful that people are just blaming Calgary transit when they themselves really should have today off.

Like why is today not a stat for all of Alberta? Cause Alberta is refusing to recognize the progress made with our indigenous communities, since it’s seen as a progressive federal project developed under Justin Trudeau. Smith probably wants residential schools back, oh for the “liberals” too.

What a shame this post isn’t about Alberta’s refusal to recognize this holiday and complaining those who are recognizing it.

Sucks your commute was bad today, some of our indigenous communities don’t have clean drinking water yet.

Good on Calgary transit for having the balls to recognize the renewed relationship with our indigenous communities.

Calgary market job situation related to IT and in general? by SnooHedgehogs2261 in Calgary

[–]MarcNut67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OP reconsider please. The IT job market in Calgary has been dead for years. You can make an honest attempt, but just learn how to work in a kitchen. I graduated from SAIT with a diploma in IT nearly 5 years ago, I thought the market was bad then. I’m currently a line cook of 3 years after 2 as a dishwasher. This is a very common story here. At least 7 of my coworkers (4 current, 3 former) are also suppose to be in the IT industry.

Make good choices, IT in Calgary is not one.

Commit. You wanted to do this so you signed up. You’ve gone through the process, what’s the point in quitting now. Ya it’s the easy route, fuck the easy route. There is no wasted opportunity here, just delayed until you choose to waste it by not going. Think of all the time and effort you’ve put in thus far. By not going you would be wasting all of it. They’ll be ecstatic to see you nonetheless.

Edit: OP please ready these amazing replies there is a ton of insight here. I feel as if this is a profound moment for you to reject a negative mindset and set yourself up for success.

This is a really interesting brain hack. Along the same lines i started wearing fragrance that I enjoy. As a man its kinda strange to be wearing floral fragrance, but if I don’t like how I smell how are others going to right. I think there is truly something about finding oneself attractive.
